Our two boys went to Swimming Stages this past month. The boys received the Groupon deal as a gift from their grandparents. Let me tell you, if it had been MY money, we would have not gone back after the first lesson. I have never been so disappointed. 1. If you call them ... they hardly ever answer the phone. If you bother to leave a message, they won't call you back for days. 2. The kid/instructor ratio is horrible. At one point, there were 8 kids (between ages 4 and 8) to one instructor. The lesson is 30 minutes long, minus 5 minutes for getting the kids in and out of the pool, that's 25 minutes for 8 kids which equals 3 minutes of instruction. THREE MINUTES!! 3. One day, we showed up to class and no one was there. The building was locked down and no cars in the parking lot. I called the office 5 times while sitting in the parking lot and received no answer. After waiting for 15 minutes, we finally left. I called the office repeatedly the next day to find out what was going on and finally received a response that afternoon. When I told the owner that I wasn't notified that class was cancelled, her first statement was, "We called you". Um ... no. I didn't receive a call. If I had, I wouldn't have driven 30 minutes to the class that wasn't happening. And the sad thing is that they "updated" their client information with a new check in sheet during the previous lesson. Not one word was said to me in a way of an apology for the misunderstanding or anything at the next lesson. 4. During the last lesson, the pool cover wasn't pulled all the way out of the pool - I took pictures of this - and kids were instructed to swim to the end of the pool where that pool cover was still in ... such a danger to students. What if one of them had gotten stuck in it?!? 5. The website states that there are all of these swimming coaches as the instructors. I never met one of the people listed on the website. All of the instructors were young - looked to be under the age of 20 and the ladies spent more time talking to each other than instructing the children. 6. Our boys brought NOTHING away from these lessons. Our oldest spent most of his time just swimming laps. Not being told what to do to swim properly (except for the 1st and last lesson). So he spent 6 lessons just swimming laps. And not correctly. He doggy paddled and no one tried to help him use his arms or breathe. 7. During the last lesson, there were 4 older children and 5 younger. The older children were instructed to swim from the side of the pool to the ropes. The pool is 12 feet deep. The owner was just floating on her back during this time and not watching what was going on at all. The kids were swimming everywhere. Our son got kicked in the face because she wasn't paying attention. The children aren't taught to raise their heads to breathe and look around, so they didn't know to watch out. This was such a waste of time and money. We will use actual professionals next time. Such. A. Waste.
