- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
All jobs are negotiable depending on the project, with a minimum of $100.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask a series of questions. What is the topic, deadline, expected final length? What type of work: Writing from raw material, copy editing, or comprehensive editing? What format is the deliverable (Word, HTML, PowerPoint, PDF)? Can you provide an example of the work you want? And many others that arise. I prefer a phone chat to start with and I follow up with a brief job description via e-mail to ensure we agree on details.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I belong to the Society for Technical Communication. I participate in online technical writing forums to stay abreast of the latest trends and methodologies. I attend webinars to boost my knowledge. I also write murder mysteries and attend a weekly critique group with published authors. Nonfiction is my career, and fiction is my favorite hobby.
