FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My pricing is based on a per word cost. I charge .01 per word. My process is two to three steps depending on whether the author also wants me to format said project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My editing/proofreading process is simple. I first read through the entire manuscript to find any and all obvious errors and make simple corrections and get a feel for the story line and authors writing style. My second read is more thorough. This process is where I make redline notations, recommendations, corrections, questions of characters, and flow of story line and sentence structure, etc. Almost all of my business is by referrals and repeat clients, which is why I do not have as many reviews as others. I work with both published and self-published authors, as well as first time writers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have a legal background and an eye for detail. I have a friend who is a self-published author. Her book had already been edited and published however, she stated that her feedback on her book was more about the errors that were found than the actual story line. Knowing my background she hired me to re-edit/proofread her book so that she could re-publish. I found quite a few errors not only in spelling and punctuation, but also found that one of her characters in the story was the wrong character for that chapter.
