About this pro
This was the first book I ever had professionally edited and was happy with the process. I had lots of amateurish questions which she patiently answered. She really made sure I was comfortable with her work. ThanksJun 12, 2018Verified

Debbie is very professional, thorough, and great at what she does. From the very 1st day we met up to discuss my editing needs, Debbie listened carefully to exactly what I needed, and provided insightful advice and ideas!! She was timely and very knowledgeable of her craft. I enjoyed working with her and will certainly use her for more of my upcoming writing projects!!! That's a done deal*Jun 26, 2015Verified

Debbie was very professional in her approach to handling my book. She also provided a soothing voice which is helpful since this was my first book. She was prompt with her responses and got my material back to me in a timely manner. This is what an editor should be.Feb 24, 2014VerifiedDebra M.'s reply

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing is based on a per word cost. I charge .01 per word. My process is two to three steps depending on whether the author also wants me to format said project.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? My editing/proofreading process is simple. I first read through the entire manuscript to find any and all obvious errors and make simple corrections and get a feel for the story line and authors writing style. My second read is more thorough. This process is where I make redline notations, recommendations, corrections, questions of characters, and flow of story line and sentence structure, etc. Almost all of my business is by referrals and repeat clients, which is why I do not have as many reviews as others. I work with both published and self-published authors, as well as first time writers.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?I have a legal background and an eye for detail. I have a friend who is a self-published author. Her book had already been edited and published however, she stated that her feedback on her book was more about the errors that were found than the actual story line. Knowing my background she hired me to re-edit/proofread her book so that she could re-publish. I found quite a few errors not only in spelling and punctuation, but also found that one of her characters in the story was the wrong character for that chapter.
