I had to go out of town for a few days and needed someone to watch my pets, cat and dog, while I was away. Julia was fantastic! My pets wanted for nothing, Audrey(dog) was fed on schedule, walked regularly and even the litter box was well cared for. I had a family member stopping in as well and they told me they didn't have to do a thing. Outstanding service. I will be using Julia's services exclusively, when needed.

Great dog walking service, but having a hyper active Brittany puppy meant that day care was a better option for the price. Great, friendly staff and were fantastic with my dog!!

We used Furry Friend Pet Care services and Jessica was very professional/organized and friendly, we felt comfortable her watching over our dogs, it was our first time ever us using a in home pet sitter, but I'm glad we did, we took a 7 day vacation and throught our vacation, we were updated on our pets status and daily report card including pictures, when we returned our dogs were happy in good condition and health, being that one of our dogs is diabetic and we were left with a thank you card for using their services. So I was very impressed and would definitely used their services again and I highly recommend them. Gary Davalos

Matt has been walking my dog Mama for 2 years now. Mama is a special case dog, who does not like other dogs, however as her mom I refuse to keep her in doors all day. So I spent weeks and hours finding the RIGHT dog trainer/handler for my precious baby. So that I could be at work at ease, knowing she was in safe hands, but also getting some fresh air in her day. Matt fulfilled all of my requirements. He was knowledgeable and knew exactly how to handle Mama in order to keep up with her training. I cannot tell you how much of a relief it was to find him! He is respectful, timely, and GREAT with communication. You're family member will 100% be in the right hands with Matt.

I am particularly drawn to overnight care and am a little more cost effective and also have childcare experience which means I have experience with safety, complex problem solving and teaching. Also, my enjoyment of walking in different surroundings means the dogs might get a little extra strolling around. Caring for animals, and getting plenty of exercise with them walking through interesting and varied scenery I wouldn't have the time to explore otherwise. It's like having a new buddy and new adventure every time!

Hello, I am Negar. I love animals and especially dogs. I have my own dog; her name is Asal. I am so patient and kind with animals, and all of them are the same as my own dog. You can trust me and be relaxed when they are with me. I am available for dog walking. I also have bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in MBA, but I prefer to work as a dog walker because I want to have more time to study and learn English. Look me up on LinkedIn.

I truly enjoy and love working with animals in ANY capacity. During my medical rehab in the service I received a lot of visits from the therapy animals while I was an inpatient and I don't know if I would have made it if not for the unwavering ,constant joy I would get from the therapy animals and all they did was lick me and put a smile on my face! Animal interaction all day?

I provide the best prices when it comes to dog walking, pet sitting, grooming and more. I take great pride when it comes to animals and pet caring. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
