Introduction: A good piano technician should also have the credentials of accomplished musicianship. This is important in order to be able to evaluate the musical capacity of an instrument. In addition to being an Ordained Organist and Minister of Music, Marc Mourier is also the founder of the Dallas Chamber Ensemble. He received his formal training in acoustics and tuning at the Tronderlag Conservatory in Norway. Mr. Mourier is honored to have been the personal piano tuner of the late Arthur Rubinstein. He also holds a MM degree and Doctor of Musical Arts (Cand.), in addition to advanced studies at the Rubin Academy in Jerusalem under the auspices of Leonard Bernstein and Abravanel. Mr. Mourier has for decades regulated instruments for festivals, private consumers, religious organizations and symphony orchestras. Getting a piano to sound the way it should.

Marc clearly knew what he was talking about and took the time to explain what was happening with my old piano more than just a quick fix tuning. A piano that has been in my family for 60 years will now be able to continue its legacy down the line.

We’ve had our piano tuned many times since we bought it but it was never quite right, the tone wasn’t correct and the key action was not smooth, eventually some keys would become sticky. Our son complained as he needed it to be in perfect tune and playing condition for him to perform as his tutor demanded. We tried different tuners with the same outcome. Piano Doctor cured all that: While he could have performed yet another tune, he recommended a complete refurbish and alignment of the action which he then followed up with a tune up. The piano is now close to perfect. Our son loves it and has been playing it constantly since then. If you want your piano to sound and perform the best that it can, then we highly recommend Piano Doctor.

Marc responded promptly to my initial request and was able to schedule a time that was convenient. He was able to repair and tune my 65 y/o piano. His repair quote was accurate and the repair was completed within a week. I plan to use Marc for any future piano repairs and tune ups.

I was extremely pleased with Dr. Mouriers service. He was able to work around my schedule and very prompt upon arrival of both visits. When he came to look at my piano, he disassembled it and showed me exactly what needed work (including estimates). He then left with the piece that needed work and said he would contact me when it was complete to schedule a time to come back (2 weeks). Only five days later he was back with the repaired parts and got to tuning. Talk about efficient:) My piano now sounds beautiful. I am very happy with my experience, and would definitely recommend him. This man knows exactly what he is doing, and I will continue to use him for the job!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Piano Doctor is McKinney based but services the entire DFW Metroplex. We are by far The Cheapest Doc in Town, with a piano servicing, tuning and repairing priced as low as the lowest in the industry. Texting or e-mailing is usually the fastest way to communicate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
That is usually only done during the first 15 years of business. BM, MM, Doctor Of Musical Arts (DMA Cand.) After that you better know your garden...
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was born with an incredible auditory faculty and it early on became the most natural avenue for me. After having finished Masters accreditation as a piano technician, I moved to Jerusalem to further my music education. I spent months after months just studying orchestral rehearsals. One day Arthur Rubinstein was performing (with the Israel Symphony Orchestra) and his private piano tuner was a no-show. Rubinstein needed his concert grand tuned every 30 minutes...I was in the room and offered my services. At the end of the rehearsals Rubinstein took the podium and addressed the orchestra and said:"I want you to know about the dilemma I had with my tuner's absence. This young gentleman took on the job and it is safe to say that I have never played on a better tuned instrument." My career took off as a rocket after that!
