FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have my MA in Literature and my BS in Business. I have been teaching at the college level for 4 years, and have been trained in the current teaching methodology that is proven to work.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started student teaching during grad school and discovered that teaching is my calling in life.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When you're hiring someone to help your kids succeed in an academic subject they're struggling in, make sure that the tutor is knowledgeable not just in the subject, but in teaching. You want someone who is patient and has experience working with students who may be resistant to schoolwork because of lower confidence or negative experiences they have had. College students might be cheaper tutors, but do they have the background to help your kids succeed? Even a few private sessions with a well-qualified and trained educator are more effective and worth the price of many sessions with a tutor who gets your child through assignments with passing grades but doesn't teach him/her the skills he/she needs to be able to excel in the subject alone.
