FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a CPDT-KA, which is a certification offered by APDT, one of the largest certifying organizations. It means that my knowledge of dog behavior, conditioning methods, client communication, and teaching skills have been tested with an examination.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started at PetCo. In 2013 and realized quickly that there was a much broader world of dog training to be explored! After spending time running a PetCo and training as a passion, I began training as a career first with my own business before the pandemic required a change! I was able to work at a facility called Peace Love Dogs where I trained dozens and dozens of dogs through their extremely popular prep school and boarding school programs. Once the pandemic was more manageable, in terms of going into peoples homes and making sure that everyone was safe and comfortable, I resumed my own business Trick 4 Treat Training! I am recently new to Thumbtack itself but have been excited to meet a new group of folks!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Some trainers have chosen to hold certain credentials that can be verified online and can give you a good idea of how they train and what material they use to inform their methodology. I would implore anyone looking for a dog trainer to ask about those credentials and verify them.
