Rutger Contracting did a great job remodeling my bathroom. It is exactly what I wanted and they even brought better ideas to the table before we started to make it better. The workers were on time and did a great job cleaning after themselves every day before they left. We hired Rutger Contracting to build on a master bedroom and bath to the back of our home in Hurst, Texas. They were consistently late to the job site, the foundation was laid incorrectly, the tie-in to the existing roof was off by several inches, and they did a slip-shod job on everything they touched. We parted ways before the job was 1/3 finished, and the money we paid to get them to leave was the best money we spent. We have had to hire more crews to come in and do what should have been done in the first place, but at least we have the satisfaction of knowing it has been done correctly now. We asked to see correct plans for the room (the initial drawing was not anywhere near to being right) and samples of choices for finishes in the room. We never saw either. Instead we were told that we were "the first clients we have ever had who took a pencil and a measuring tape out". We also asked to see the budget breakdown, in order to determine what might or might not be an upgrade in our choices. After reviewing the budget and after a few tense discussions with them, we opted to terminate the relationship and halt the project. (In fairness to them, we may have been more "hands-on" than what they were used to, but when I am spending $60,000 for a project, I really want to know where the money is being spent, and that my ideas and preferences are being considered). We were also told that the city inspector "doesn't care what's on file, they just need to have something to approve". When they were told that we would not be continuing the project, they began yelling about how they had been 'conned' and they were using very vulgar language to punctuate their frustration and anger. They left the site in a huge mess with chunks of concrete, trash, piles of dirt from the plumbing dirt work they did, etc. We will probably have to hire yet another crew to come in and clean up after them. All-in-all, it was the nightmare of remodeling projects. I could not ever see a time in the future when I would recommend them to anyone. I don't dislike anybody that much.

First and foremost, Rutger Contracting would like to say that our top priority on each and every project is complete customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, there are occasions where no matter the effort given, satisfaction cannot be achieved. In regards to our workmanship on this project, the foundation was measured as being poured to 1/8" from center, the framing for the roof tie in was not completed due to being pulled off of the project and the only other work completed was plumbing rough in and demo. The drawings were made to scale for the exterior walls as this is what was requested from the building official to verify distance from the plot lines. The drawings were never intended for the actual layout of the bedroom and bathroom. The homeowner was in Australia at the time these were made and we had scheduled a consultation with her upon her return to determine interior finishes. We were not given this chance before we were told our drawings were off and that they had spent hours making their own drawings we would now use. After explaining why the measurements were off for the interior, they were not intended to be accurate, the homeowner did not trust our judgement or our ability to finish the project. When told that we would be removed from the project we asked to be paid for the work that had been completed. Once this problem was resolved we took our tools and left the premises. There was trash left as it was a construction site in the middle of production. This was a very unfortunate project that does not reflect our company in any form or fashion. As you can see by previous reviews, all of our customers have had great experiences and have loved the end product. Rutger Contracting is proud of the reputation it has earned for their customer service and product. We believe that given the chance we can prove that this review is not a reflection of our company, the people that work within it or our product.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It is not possible to describe the complications of the pricing of our services as we provide any service you can imagine on a house. Each project includes a different combination of pricing depending on the scope of work. We have worked very hard to get the bottom line prices on materials for every trade, as well as amazing laborers that you can't get at a better price.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely. We actually keep an entire back office system, so are technilogically always keeping it a step ahead. We also love staing up to date on every trade and all of the options for all the materials and finishes imaginable. We do everything from our own research, to meetings with traade experts outside of our company, trade shows, as well as certifications on all sorts of different areas throughout the different trades on a job.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
We started out being interested in our line of work as it encorporates a number of our various combined talents and strong suits and allows us to help people.
