Introduction: A little about my experience: I have been teaching Algebra and College Success at San Jacinto College for three years as an adjunct instructor. Prior to teaching at the college level, I was with Houston ISD for five years as a teacher. Before I had my two children, I was Sales and Marketing Manager for a frozen food manufacturer, my family's business that was later sold to Red Baron Pizza, for over ten years. I am passionate about teaching and helping students to succeed. My tutoring style: Typically, during my first meeting, I try to establish some type of rapport and connection with the students. I ask questions regarding their school, struggle with the subject(s), their teacher(s)/friends, their hobbies and studying habits. I also look at the organizational skills. I have had very bright students with weak studying and organizational skills that set them back academically. I prefer to get the curriculum/schedule ahead of time so that I can prepare for a productive tutoring session. My goal as a tutor is to foster the love for learning in my students and help build confidence in their skills by showing them how to be an independent learner. A little about me: Besides academics, I also teach personal finance/money management, studying skills, researching skills and note-taking skills to teenagers and adults. I have been following Investor's Business Daily for 2 decades and have been investing in rental properties for over ten years. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, camping, cultural activities, hot yoga, practicing French with my meetup groups, and spending time with my children.
