I needed someone to finish. a wall build out for a 85in TV and 60 in electric fireplace. We reached out to Lawrence, he arrived on time, examined the current build, measured and provided us with what he needed to do to complete the job. I asked him when could he start, Lawrence reply was “I can start now” which was exactly what I wanted to hear 😊. He finished the job within 2 days. We are updating our home and will most definitely be calling Lawrence for some other remodeling projects. He is on time, very detailed, communicative, committed to doing an excellent job. He is an all around great person, you want go wrong hiring him for your next remodel or project.

This is not a business. It is one guy who has very little experience and is extremely unprofessional. He quoted me a price of $988 on materials on the evening of Monday, July 2. He told me I could call Home Depot to pay for supplies on the morning of July 3. I went in the store on Tuesday, July 3 to purchase the materials. He asked me to meet him in an hour. When I arrived at Home Depot, there was no order placed. He had me wait for almost two hours in the Home Depot parking lot while he went to rent a UHaul and shop for materials. Then he had me purchase $300 more in supplies because the store workers gave him an estimated time of an hour before they could get the size boards he needed using the forklift. He promised to create something else like rails and steps if there was a surplus. After I paid for the materials, he loaded them into the UHaul where his toddler son was already seated. He had been in a running vehicle the entire time. He left the parking lot and did not come to my home for another hour with his child still in the vehicle. He unloaded the materials and demolished the previous deck. He began to measure and dig out the corners to lay the cement posts for the deck. At the end of the day he had no light left. He said the cement had to dry and he would be back the next morning. He requested half of the $1600 be paid upfront. I sent him a text asking him to confirm his Zelle account. He did not respond.
Day 2 came. He confirmed the Zelle account and he arrived around 11:30 with his son in tow. I sent $500 via Zelle since I had already spent an additional $300 at Home Depot the previous day. His child sat on the back porch while he attempted to work. Then he left around 1:00 for “lunch and nails” he still needed. This guy returned around 5:00 and began work on cutting and laying the boards. My dog began barking in the front yard. I walked outside and found his car running with the toddler inside the vehicle asleep. I told him he could bring the child inside of my home rather than leave him in a running car. He told me that his “partner”’was coming shortly to pick up the child. Within the hour, she rang my doorbell and proceeded to take the child with her. Again, he worked until there was no light. The deck build was almost complete and could be walked on.
With the enormous amount of wood left over, he said he could build steps and rails for the deck at no additional charge because we already had the materials or he could return the uncut boards to Home Depot. I agreed to allow him to use the materials to build a second box in my yard since he had a huge surplus of cut wood that couldn’t be returned, and he would have to rent another Uhaul to return the uncut wood to Home Depot. He promised to return on Friday, July 5 because of the holiday on July 4th. He told me to purchase the stain for the wood and the roller/brush kit so he could stain them when he returned. He requested the rest of the upfront money and in good faith, I sent him an additional $500 at the end of the evening since it was almost complete.
Day 3 Friday he returned and built a second box in another location in my yard. He texted me that he was finished with the build and stain. It was too dark to see the finished product in detail. He said he would return on Sunday to bag up the debris from the demolition and put a second coat of stain on the deck. He sent pictures of the bags of debris and said the job was complete. I sent him pictures and videos of the issues with the deck, exposed cement blocks, boards that have gaps in between, and uneven alignment of the exterior boards with one corner of the deck resting on a metal bracket to try to even it out. He said no further work would be done without the final payment and that he wanted another $400 for building the second box.
Even though an additional charge was never discussed and I still have additional cut materials that were never used that can not be returned.
Over the past few weeks I have tried to be patient and accommodating. Again, trying to be fair and show good faith, I paid the remaining $600 and agreed to give him the suggested $400 when he corrected the problems with the structure. He has not returned to address any of the issues. I should’ve recognized the red flags along the way since his only communication was via text
message rather than through Thumbtack. He only used the Thumbtack messenger feature to get the job and to send a message trying to make it seem like the work was complete. It is not.
To further support this review, I have a log of our text messages that I informed the builder I will be sharing with Thumbtack. I highly discourage the use of this one individual who uses the “company” name Legendary Installations.

I'm sorry you were not satisfied with the service provided. As noted in your review, we agreed on a payment schedule before starting the project, which was not followed.
Your project cost covered labor only, with materials and junk removal being your responsibility. Since no arrangements were made, I rented a truck at my expense, causing an initial delay.
The decision to proceed with the more expensive materials rather than wait an hour was yours, as the paying party, and it did not entitle you to additional free labor. It also did not justify deducting the overage from the required deposit or project cost.
After completing the work, I returned to address your concerns about junk removal, which is not a service I provide. You were not present to give feedback, nor did you respond to my call or text. Later, you stated via text that my work was substandard, raised additional issues, and refused to pay while requesting that I return again.
As communicated directly, I am willing to return to ensure your satisfaction and address your concerns, provided you are present to observe and provide feedback, and the balance is settled, which you declined.
Your photos show that your previous deck consisted of pallets on cinder blocks, while the new deck is custom-built with in-ground concrete posts. I shared options for the use of the excess material involving steps and rails, and advised it be at an additional costs, not free. I have already completed a separate build that has not been compensated, as you believe it too should be free.
As a husband and father, my work supports my family, and payment has been an ongoing issue since the start of this project.
