Check out references. Meet the provider in person. Have the provider walk through the job you want done. Write down everything you expect to have cleaned: rooms, items in rooms such as windows, change sheets, dust. Write down what you don't want done such as don't clean this room, don't move things on my desk, use only this cleaner on this item, etc.
