Introduction: I take martial training with a professional attitude. I believe that training in hand to hand concepts should be taken seriously. Yes, its fun and we laugh and have a good time along the way, but when your life can depend on your studies there's no room for merely playing games with it. I like seeing people find a way to live out a larger vision for their lives than they at first thought possible. A good mentor will get you to do the hard work you've been avoiding so you can become what you've always wanted to be.

Sensei Suber has dedicated his life to the martial way, not just the martial arts. I met Sensei when I was 21. I trained for a little over three years until I joined the U.S. Army. I was unable to keep up my training, but Sensei Suber kept up with me. I am 42 now and his presence and martial influence is still in my life. If you seek a path, or a way--more than just a technique or patch, then you've found your teacher.

Mike is very patient, and dedicated to his students and martial arts in general. He pays attention to detail, explains how you can improve, and encourages you to be the best you can. Also Mike is a person with moral fortitude and character, a good role model, and someone to look up to whether you're a child or adult.

Mike Suber was my martial arts mentor for four years. I can say firsthand that he has been a fantastic teacher and mentor. He has a wealth of knowledge and a depth of understanding in Okinawan karate, and a kind and patient heart to teach others. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I continue my training by meeting with the senior people in my professional organization, Alliance to Preserve the Old Fighting Arts, and training with them through out the year to increase my knowledge and expertise.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
Martial training has always captured my imagination and drawn the warrior in me to work toward mastery of the martial arts. I found in the process that I have a passion for helping youth find a path to adulthood and helping young adults learn to live life skillfully (mentoring).
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Anyone can teach punches and kicks, but not just anyone can teach you how to integrate them into a cohesive system you can rely on in difficult times.
