As CEO of Claypool's Ethan Allen, I had the privilege of observing Doris Younger's design work for sixteen years. After retiring, I took great pleasure in watching Doris develop her own outstanding design practice. In winning every top Ethan Allen award for interior design and service - locally, nationally, & internationally - Doris was the epitome of professionalism, and a marvel of design talent. Her ability to work within a wide range of styles and to custom-tailor an interior to fit her client's needs is remarkable. She is competent , timely, and creative, as well as a delight to work with. If you find you have the opportunity to work with Doris Younger, grab it! You'll be glad you did.

Doris Younger Designs has done several jobs for me including a complete do over of my great room with new furniture, reupholstering of some of my favorite pieces. I like her way of understanding my needs and budget (husband) and giving me different ideas and perspectives. She was also instrumental in the remodel of my master bathroom in working with me for all of my materials selection and getting me the right general contractor. My bathroom came out beautifully and on budget. I continue to use Doris for any design needs that I have it is so nice to work for a true professional.

FAQs

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a BA degree in Interior Design and I'm a professional member of ASID (American Society of Interior Design}. The state of Texas requires continuing education every year, each course qualified in health, safety and welfare or sustainabilty or accessible design. Additionally, I enjoy taking courses in other categories such as the latest in product knowledge, lighting techniques or color theory.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look for a professional designer licensed by the state and/or a member of professional organizations such as ASID. They have had extensive education and passed strenuous examinations regarding health, safety and welfare issues. Check out websites with photos of completed projects to see the range of work and if you like what you see.
