- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Mine's not complicated. I have a service call I charge, then a flat rate system for typical parts. Proprietary parts such as circuit boards and some newer motors are figured out once I know how much I pay for them. Prices vary greatly from manufacturer to manufacturer even though made by same companies.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have to get re-licensed every year, so the state mandates continuing education. I also take classes at local hvac distributors.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was a manufacturing supervisor/process engineer in previous life. I got tired of getting layed off or having to move around. I've always been fairly technical and hvac provided a sense of stability and utilizes my technical skills
