FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started in the residential construction industry back in '95, I worked for a local large builder and displayed such an interest that I was able to work within many different departments giving me much broader knowledge. In my career, I worked for a total of 4 BIG builders. I just loved the environment and as I progressed in my career and moved up in responsibilities, I knew this was the field for me. Having the ability to build a custom home on paper and then working in the field to bring that blueprint to life, was just awesome to me. I believe honesty and integrity are a necessity in this field and have also found that if you treat those important people who help you do what you do well, in this case your Trade Partners, those with the hammer and nails, that they will do better work which translates into a higher quality home. Among the numerous builders to choose from, it is my hope that by treating people kindly, doing what you say you will do, doing the right thing always and demonstrating a true passion for every single home that I have the privelege to be a part of, that I will be blessed with more opportunities to facilitate the creation of many more homes for generations to come.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Ask for professional references and ask as many questions as you need. Personally meet the team that will be working directly on your project to ensure that the homebuilder that you ultimately choose meshes with your personality and ultimately can meet your expectations.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
First, I am a savvy WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION, in an industry of few. Throughout my 16+ year career in residential construction, I have experienced almost every facet of this business at one time or another and can truly say that I have done it all. Secondly, I would like people to know that Generation Custom Homes was formed after an unfortunate lay off, after working for a local builder for more that eleven years. During my career, I developed and maintained great relationships with the San Antonio trade base. These are the same trades that have worked for most of the area builders, at one time or another. I keep costs down because I know what construction services should cost and I negotiate anything and everything related to these costs. Lastly, I would like customers to know that I am one who truly loves the work that I do and that I am very thankful to be a part of any opportunity to build, renovate or design a home that is so-so important to you.
