- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always wanted to create. My love for drawing and collaging transformed into a study of Graphic Design. I was then hired at Martha Stewart where I was able to explore so many different type of design and art. When I was working in the Weddings Department at Martha Stewart and was asked to hand letter seating cards for one of my co-worker's friends after they discovered I loved typography. Ever since I have been designing type on every scrap of paper I can find.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Most commonly I am hired to do hand-drawn typography work as well as calligraphy. I am also hired frequently to create custom logo designs and identity work as well as production mechanicals and books. I am constantly asked to edit photos for weddings and events as I have extensive experience with both photography and editing in post with Adobe Photoshop. I am proficient in CS5 including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Find a designer that shares the same style you desire for your end product. It is important to find someone who can achieve the look you are searching for as well as talk you through the process and allow you to weigh in in the final design.
