I came across Survival of the Fittest during a critical time in my life. I was in a transition period both personally and professionally and needed a fitness regime to help me tone up and reduce my stress. A friend recommended Donna Gordon, owner of Survival of the Fittest Personal Training. Coach Donna and I clicked from day one. During our 5 am sessions, she was prompt, cheerful and always motivated me to reach my goals. Coach Donna helped me recognize poor eating habits that were sabotaging my results. Overall, this was an excellent experience and Coach Donna is an awesome trainer that will get you the results if you put in the work.

I worked with Chris for six months this year before I was relocated. I've had many personal trainers and Chris is among the best. He was extremely flexible, working with my busy schedule anytime from 6 am until as late as 9 pm. He tailored my workouts to suit my particular goals, kept very careful notes on my progress and helped me with meal and home/hotel exercise plans. And, he's a good guy, personable, kind and decent. I hope to work with him again one day!

I moved to San Antonio June 2017, and have been trying to accomplish my fitness goals on my own. Needless to say it was not working. I stumbled upon this website and started to search personal trainers. There was many different types. I first met with Jesse because he was reasonably priced. I have come to find out that he goes above and beyond the normally personal training relationship. We had the first meeting and I explained my fitness goals that I would like to achieve. I also explained that with my job (working in the oil field) I had very little time and my schedule is very hectic. He has worked with me ever sense. He is very flexible, and easy to set up appointments and understands when things come up. He has helped me with my eating habits and will also text me when I am out on location (the oil rig) to hold me accountable. He has come up with work outs I can do at home or when I am traveling for work. He makes sure to motivate me and to push me towards my goals. I would recommend him to anyone. If you are looking for personal training or even on the fence about it, I would meet with Jesse and do a couple of sessions. Trust me when I say you will not be disappointed.

My visit with Rosemarie Montgomery at H.E.A.L.T.H Natural Solutions was incredible. I entered the peaceful spa-like office with intense anxiety and stress and left feeling relaxed, empowered, and ready to face the world with more confidence and hope! Rosemarie Montgomery is professional and personable with her coaching and healing with her touch. She gave me steps to take and information to consider to get closer to reaching my health goals for myself and for my family. I had a one hour office consultation and a stress relief reflexology session including sauna time. The reflexology session was truly relaxing and healing. I left wanting to share the experience with everyone I love! I also left feeling that I wanted to keep taking better care of myself and my family because I felt so good. I had information about drinking water, steps to better nutrition, and stress relief to share. Putting these steps in place is already making a difference. I will definitely be back!

Tracee is one of the most AMAZING women I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!! Not only is she an AWESOME human being but she is also a very generous, loving, and compassionate mentor and friend. My life has changed tremendously since embracing Tracee's teachings and way of thinking and veiwing the world around us. She herself has overcome so much and she has used her own life experiences to heal, grow, and guide orhers to be the best they can be. She pays it forward everyday. A simple smile or hug from Tracee brightens up anyone's day and her luminous glow is contagious. She has helped me find the strength and courage to overcome my personal conflicts and has helped me grow, learn, and obtain the knowledge I need to continue with my personal growth and spirituality. Her goal is to help everyone to never look back and keep moving forward. She has taught me that loving and respecting yourself will guide you to real joy and happiness, to showing compassion and forgiveness, to becoming healthy both physically and mentally, to always show gratitude and give thanks for everything and anything that cones your way. She helps me daily with not only my personal goals but also my business goals. Her wisdom, knowledge, generosity, nurturing soul, love, and enthusiasm is not only uplifting but also inspiring and contagious!! I am a better human being and an empowered woman because of her teachings and love. Thank you, Tracee. Thank you for all that you do and continue to do. I am beyond GRATEFUL to have you in my life!! Keep shining!! 💕

I first started training one on one with Shelby Jones, then had the privilege of training with Alexander Holguin before starting classes. All of the coaches are amazing, they really care about the members and their lives both in and outside the gym. Olympic weightlifting coach Corey Bigelow is fantastic and really helped me with my form after only a few one on ones. Kelly Castellano, Lisa Vasquez, Bryson Miller and Audrey Hernandez are amazing coaches and have taught me so very much! Nathaniel Tennison and Jennifer Pirtle are super awesome coaches and personal trainers!

You get more than just a trainer with Heath; you get a life coach, someone who will give you all the tools to help you achieve your goals. He doesn't push you too hard, but hard enough to make you challenge yourself. He also has the knowledge and experience to help you work through injuries or problems spots. He truly cares about what he does and it shows in every training session. I highly recommend him for anyone looking to improve their overall health & fitness.

Jillian Pace is the real deal! She is so caring and committed to helping me change the look and feel of my unloved body. She is the personal trainer you love to hate because she is always kind, but makes you push yourself further than you want to go. Jillian is very reasonably priced, she not only drives to my house, she provides many surprising extras such as: nutrition and weight advice, meal plans, food journals, body and fat measurement, etc. Jillian walks her talk, and is helping me create a personal commitment to looking my best. She is a dream come true!

Sharlene did SRT (Spiritual Response Therapy) with me for over a year. We met every two weeks or so, and it was fascinating each time, several days or more afterward, how I could sense aspects of my personal challenges shifting in ways that gave me relief or a feeling of release. And the effect over time was cumulative, in that each time we dug a little deeper, or uncovered something new that became ready to come out. It was gentle and easy, although sometimes the emotions that surfaced were unexpected. One of the great things was that Sharlene required me to verbalize a desire that I wanted to address during each session. Sometimes it was a frustration, sometimes a wish for something within me I wanted to change. But always something, because that focused the energy of the session. Without exception, my inner being or higher self always responded to her inquiry about my specific desire. Another great thing was her coaching around what my higher self was telling us. Sharlene is a master life coach, she does it with such sensitivity, honesty and accuracy that you swear it is coming 'through' her, not from her. Her SRT work guided me through a period that was fraught with emotional pain and personal growth beyond anything I had experienced in my life. I can't recommend her enough. All of her services work synergistically together, but when used individually, you still receive 'all of her' regardless of which one you choose.

I wanted to work with a trainer to introduce me to a larger variety of work out options to help in long term weight loss, all over body toning and an increase in strength. Not only did Scott show me how to use the available exercise equipment which has always intimidated me but he also showed me how to do floor exercises and well as the free weights to give me more options to keep my workouts fresh and challenging. He was very patient and very accommodating of my strange schedule. I think I now have more tools to aid me in reaching my weight loss goals!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
