FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
By profession, I was a legal secretary and legal word processor, for the better part of 15 years. I enjoyed legal word processing and transcription of legal documentation so much that in 2006 I made the decision to specialize in audio file transcription from my home office. I have a client I have worked for since 2008. This client was extremely satisfied with my work because my transcripts read like a conversation, are time-stamped to make transcript review easier. I have two different types of transcription -- University Style and Traditional Style. I offer samples of both and also offer to transcribe the first 5-7 minutes for new clients at no cost before making a decision about hiring me.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
1. Research Interviews; 2. Transcripts of Books in audio file format; and 3. Legal transcription: POPs, Motions, Discovery Documents, Briefs, Opinions, Probate Docments, etc. All areas of law. 4. Meetings 5. Doctoral Candidate Dissertations w/ Student Discounts
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I transcribed over 200 audio files for research projects for Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. These audio files were part of two different educational research projects, funded by the National Science Foundation. These confidential transcripts will be used to improve the quality and continuity of care in when educating students who live within the State of Texas. I was very priviledged to be a part of these research projects. I learned a lot that I did not know about education in general and education, with specificity about what is in store for elementary, secondary and high school students in Texas in the very near future. I have an excellent reference from one of the doctoral candidates in the Department of Education in Texas.
