In the end the cleanup of my bare concrete floor went well, but there was a mixup in communication as to what kind of cleanup it was and to what extent I wanted it free of dirt and debris. But the manager and tech worked with me until it was okay.

Blast & his team were awesome! He performed numerous jobs for me (tile/floor laminate installation, wall repair, painting, etc...) He continuously provided feedback & offered his expert opinion on several projects....which turned out fantastic. He had no problem deviating from what was initially agreed upon just to please his customer. You definitely won't go wrong choosing his services.

Texas Wood Flooring installed about 825 Sqr Ft of Engineered Wood Floor in my Home in Cinco Ranch. On the first day,the team quickly cleaned and leveled the floor prior to the wood floor installation. On installation day, there were three wood floor workers that expeditiously tackled the wood floor installation. What sets Texas Wood Flooring apart from the rest, was when I had a concern with the repairs on the stairs, they worked very hard to make sure the job was 100% correct and I was satisfied. Super appreciated & I've hired them for an additional phase of work.

Sheet rock work in our garage was amazing as was his concrete work between our barn and house. His tile work around our fireplace and the back splash in our kitchen was excellent as well. We also used him for framing and finishing a living area above our garage. This include installing laminate flooring, insulation and window units. He also completed a porch project outside our utility room. Our last project was to replace all the windows and doors in a mother-in-law cottage. His quoted price was accurate as was his estimate on completing each project. We used him multiple times during the course of a year and we wwre always pleased with the results

My profession is Architecture and I deal with a lot of construction. AV Concrete is the definition and quality and professionalism. I contacted AV to demo and redo my driveway and back patio concrete (2,000 sf total). Added some structural footing at the back patio for a possible future addition. Their quote was on par with the lower bidders, but I decided to go with AV Concrete because of the great reviews and I felt that Manuel, and his son Jesus, would take good care of the project - and this turned out to be true. Manuel and his crew showed on time or early on every scheduled phases of the work, including the first time he came out for a quote. During the forming phase, Manuel advised that I should add a retaining wall since my neighbor's yard is higher, and this will prevent future flooding and saturation of the ground on my side. That was a add cost, but will be worth it. Other companies may not have noticed or even care to bring it up. I also mentioned that the getting in the driveway from the street was tough because the street is narrow and our existing driveway was tight. Manuel solved that by widening the driveway and increasing the radius of the entry curve. Had a great experience with AV Concrete and would definitely recommend them to anyone.

David and his crew did an awesome job on our driveway and sidewalk. His response time was great from start to finish. He bid the job last Saturday and everything is completed as of today (5 days later). They even did some extra work around the house and the pricing was very competitive. I would gladly recommend them for any concrete work. Thank you to the entire crew for all of the hard work.

Ivan did the tile for all of our bathrooms and he installed brick flooring throughout our kitchen and master bathroom. He was meticulous, very detailed and cares very, very much about his final product. He was also very helpful to us during one renovation in a more broad sense: he introduced us to other great contractors who were a huge help to us. He was great to work with and I'd use him again for sure!

Omar is great reliable flooring professional I had other people who did a disaster when they installed my wood floor, immediately Omar noticed what was wrong it was a nightmare, he took the wood planks off replaced the old underlay finished the work and cleaned after. Saved me a lot of money the other guy made me pay so much for everything as he didn’t do the right measurements. His price was very reasonable to the work quality I received. I can’t thank him enough for his work He is also very honest when I asked him to do some outdoor rock work he said he doesn’t do that. The other guy said he can do everything! I highly recommend him In feature if I need any other floor job I’ll definitely hire him. Thank you Omar

I love love love my patio cover. 4 days to complete. They did exactly what we asked or and wanted. We asked to leave the beams open because we want to go back and add fans and we also asked for no flooring, since we are pouring a concrete slab. Very pleased!

This company installed concrete countertops. was $700 for approx. 30sq ft. ( not stained just installed) Edgar did a good job on the countertops - but did miss part of them. Someone else came the next day to clean up the cement board around the base - it was left all jagged and chipped our cement edge in several places - this was not done to our satisfaction. Edgar came back and finished the missing piece and was supposed to clean up the edges but did not. I ended up having to do that myself. All and all I was satisfied with the job but felt that if Edgar would have been the one to handle it from beginning to end we would have been happier with better results. But they were good to respond quickly to text and phone calls and were willing to try and solve the issues - so yes I would recommend them.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
  • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
  • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
  • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
  • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
  • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
