After being extremely disappointed in the drywall and painting work done by a previous contractor, I hired Isaac Delcid to redo the previous contractor's work and then continued to use him on one project after another. Not only did he make the walls that were floated and painted by the prior contractor perfectly smooth, he astounded everyone working on my renovation project by being able to float an extremely textured room and ceiling to a perfectly smooth finish. On a Sunday, He even provided free examples of how the finished wall would look because I had a hard time believing it could be floated smooth. Later, his tile expert installed some challenging tiles in a bathroom at no charge to demonstrate that these tiles could also be installed with a perfectly smooth surface. I was amazed enough to have Isaac Delcid's crew rip out all of the tiles in three other bathrooms that were poorly done by a previous contractor and reinstall them perfectly. Well worth the money. Isaac Delcid is an extremely good communicator, generates professional proposals, is able to do the work quickly and efficiently, and never fails to impress me. I have had at least nine contractors on this project and Isaac Delcid is definitely the best in the business. I almost regret writing this positive review, because I want to keep him for my own projects only!

This was my first experience with Thumbtack and it was excellent! I needed the drywall that was behind my old kitchen backsplash removed and replaced before the new tile and granite goes in. Stan answered me immediately, gave me a very reasonable quote and said he would be out the next morning. His guy was there early 7:50am! Stan was in a minor car accident and got delayed but still showed up. I asked him about other what other things he could do for me because I was so impressed I would like to hire again in the future.

Dj tiled my bathroom with a glass tile. Glass tile is difficult to cut and to lay, but DJ used his skill and expertise to get the job done right. DJ is also a very funny guy and a good person.

Daniel did an excellent job of building our shaker style kitchen cabinets and arches to match the existing in our older home. He was thorough and patient as we went over design ideas that I had collected from Pintrest. He used the ideas and incorporated them into our space. He met with us several times to go over the details and timeline. He went above and beyond to help me coordinate with the other trades for our remodel. He also put me in contact with a painter and sheetrock repair to help with the job. I highly recommend Daniel and would definitely use him again for any of our carpentry needs!

My husband and I just purchased a new home and we wanted the entire kitchen cabinets redone. We got a free quote and were happy with the price. When the job was finished we were very happy and pleased with the work that was done. It was exactly what we expected and more. We received very friendly and professions service. My husband and I would totally recommend a Texas renovation and will use them again for any future work that will be needed in our home.

Jose was our main contractor for our kitchen remodel. It was a major job (took the whole kitchen down to the studs, and put back together again). He was always on time, always kept things clean. Did everything we asked and did it quickly, even when we changed the design halfway through and he had to redo some of the work he had already done. We are so happy with the work he has done and will definitely be using him in the future. He even got along with our 2 crazy dogs!

Wow! Betos Tile, and particularly Gilberto, do an absolutely incredible job. Unbelievably professional and very reasonable in price for the very high quality of work performed. I can't wait to get Gilberto on my next project! This particular project was for a "mother-in-law" house and the budget was very tight. Gilberto's quoted price was within the budget and very competitive. Since I did not occupy this house, I had some difficult time frames for when I would be present to supervise the job. Gilberto was very flexible and accommodating to this schedule and just an all-around great guy. He showed up on time, was efficient in the work, did a fantastic job of protecting the areas around his work, and even was kind enough to explain the process (and let me help a little as I wanted to try my hand at grouting!). While efficient in his job, he did NOT cut corners and took his time with the areas that mattered. Gilberto is a true artisan and craftsman and very meticulous in making sure the job is done correctly. He cleaned up nicely and even did one final "walk through" where he looked at each area of tile and made sure it was perfect. It was a late night and yet, he took the time to explain to me how to care for this and give me pointers on sealing or treating (if I wanted to do that in the future). While this review is wordy, I really don't have enough words to share how great of experience I had with this tile install and how impressed I am with Gilberto of Betos Tile. Hire him and know you're going to be taken care of. NOTE: Pictures attached are of the finished wall, but I took them before we had secured the fixtures or replaced the wall plates. Gilberto did this just subsequent to the time I snapped the picture.

We hired Rick to re-hang a towel bar in our master bathroom and we are extremely happy with the quality of his work and his professionalism. He was very responsive during the hiring process, provided updates on schedule, and arrived right when he said he would. We couldn't be more pleased with his work. It was exactly what we wanted done at the level of quality we wanted. For all of this Rick charged a very fair and transparent price. Highly recommend Rick Haley Tile and Home Services.

Welton was punctual, displayed great professionalism, wonderful to deal with, very amicable and honest. He did tile replacement, grouting, and caulking on my masters bathroom. It only took him a few hours, his price was fair, and the work came out looking like new and clean. I am very happy with the quality of his work and strongly recommend him.

After meeting with several installers for hardwood floors, I decided to go with A-1 American flooring. It was definitely the right decision for me! In addition to installing hardwood in my dining, formal living, family room and stairs, Al was willing to help with other miscellaneous projects: installation and painting of quarter round for the tile in my home (builder did not include it), installation of kitchen faucet, ceiling fans, and garage door opener. The heading that they still take pride in their work held true. I plan to use Al for future projects and have absolutely no hesitationi in referring him to friends and family. Happy to provide pictures of completed work upon request since I cannot include in this review. ~Tara

Walter installed tile in two of the rooms in our house. He is a true craftsman and very professional. He and his helper, Anthony, did a tremendous job. They even fixed errors the previous contractor that we used had made. Walter and Anthony were very thorough and detailed in every aspect of the job from prep work all the way to cleanup. We will definitely be using Walter again for other projects around our home.

They explained everything and gave me different options and pricing which was very competitive. I am very pleased with the quality of work and the results. These guys do what they say they will, on time and on budget too. Would definitely use them again !

I had my whole bathroom remodeled by Richard Coaliron and he did a great job.He converted my bathtub into a walk in shower and and he installed faucets and painted the bathroom. I was skeptical of the estimate he gave because a few other big name companies gave me some super high estimates.I really misjudged this guy.His team came in and did the job in 3days.He put a warranty behind his work and they did everything in a professional manor. My wife was impressed with his work as well.

Removed tile off bathtub walls. Replaced with natural stone and added a built in shower compartment for shower gels and shampoo. Loved the professionalism of father and son. They made the trips to buy the material, seeing as I have a rather small car and transportation wasn't an option for me. Loved the finish product, my bathroom looks amazing.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

      • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
        • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
