John came out same day to rid my flower bed of a mole that apparently was delivered with some top soil. While he was here I also had him take care of the ant problem I was having. Very happy with his service.

We hired Josh to seal the holes in our roof and to ensure the removal of any critters that may have entered our home. Josh's professional demeanor and put us at ease from the start, so much so that we didn't even bother to schedule any other quotes. He arrived on time and would even text if held up a little in traffic. We are happy with his work and have decided to hire him as our regular exterminator.

I've been having wasp and hornet problems for years. I've called out different pest services, but no one has solved the problem. I'm glad to say, now I can sit on my patio worry free! Thank you for that!

I had a problem with bugs that I had never saw before I moved to Texas, so I hired Alamo. Troy Reiter came out promptly and professionally. He conducted a thorough inspection, told me what problems I was having inside and outside the house, and told me the options to eliminate the issue. I'm pregnant and wanted to clear this up before the baby arrives, and Troy definitely helped us out. I will definitely be continuing services with Alamo for preventative maintenance!

New construction of housing in my neighborhood drove carpenter ants and spiders ( Black Widow) into my yard. Existing protection was not enough. Jeremy and Katiebug Pest Services were used by a friend, with a similar problem, and were highly recommended. Katiebug's service was excellent and Jeremy gave me options for my service, after carefully evaluating my problem. I liked him and no longer am experiencing any "pests."

I was over run with ants and other bugs. I had never hired a pest control service before and was worried about the pest treatment products being harmful to my pets. Taylor took the time to address my concerns and was so patient and informative! When Dylan came out to inspect and treat my home, he was very polite and reassuring as well about my pets safety. I will definitely contact Savior Termite and Pest Control again.

We had a rat invasion in our attic. I'm talking full on warfare here...the bastards were taking over. Understandably, my wife was pretty panicked about the situation. The nice, professional guys from Home Wellness came in and immediately turned the tides of the Great Rodent War back in favor of the humans. They even matched the price of a competitor who also bid the work. I recommend Home Wellness without hesitation for all your rodent eradication needs.

About

We remove honey bees, prices start at $25 for a simple swarm removal. For tear-outs and other established hive removals, contact me for a quote. I am a beekeeper and I will remove honey bees from your property and place them in a new hive so that they can be put to good use. With the decline of honey bee populations in recent years, we need to preserve as many bees as possible. Please do not call an exterminator to remove bees. Whether you call me or not, please have a beekeeper remove bees so they are not killed. Besides, beekeepers will charge far less than exterminators who may charge $400 or more. This is the greenest possible way to deal with unwanted bees. I use no chemicals in the removal of the bees. I vacuum them directly into their new home, minimizing the loss of bees and the trauma they face. I do swarm and established hive removal in Johnson and Tarrant counties and will do the surrounding counties in some instances. I will remove bees from structures but will not rebuild any tear-out required. I will, however, only remove as much material as necessary and will do as little damage as possible. I use care and attention to detail to minimize damage caused by the tear-out. Contact me for rates. The costs are very reasonable and based on complexity but I can assure you they will be far less than those of exterminators.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost for a pest control service?

Whether you need to get rid of bugs or rodents, pest removal professionals can be lifesaving when you have an infestation. Pest control prices will vary based on what type of pest is being removed. The national pest control price range is $80-$130, although prices can be much higher for tasks like wildlife removal (raccoons, bobcats, etc.), which might start at $250 and exceed $500, depending on the animal and the trapping measures required.

The cost of eliminating a termite colony ranges on average from $240 to $400, but these costs can increase greatly if the whole house is infested. The average cost to kill cockroaches is between $80 and $130, while bedbug extermination ranges from $320 to $400 on average. The main factors that will affect your pest control price are the type of pest, the extent of the infestation, the accessibility of the infested areas, and the type of treatment required.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.
