Hired Getting Saucy (love that name) for a 4th of July party I had. I wanted an all American theme with a flare! I was so excited with the menus and ideas Jennifer came up with. I asked for just a food drop off, but she stuck around to make sure everything was perfect! My guests loved the food and the presentation. I will be using Getting Saucy for my end of the summer pool party!! Looking forward to the menus and food ideas! Thank you for making my event the talk of the town;)

We hired Jennifer for a casual wedding of what turned out to be 67 people total. Problems began from the very beginning. First she quoted us an even price structure, i.e. the price went up by the same increment for each additional set of 25 people. This seems reasonable except when it comes to food. It simply does not cost double to feed 100 vs. 50 people. Also, Jennifer was friendly at first via email, but when we expressed concern about booking her without tasting her food first, she clammed up and her friendliness never returned. She was very helpful once the tasting actually happened. We live out of town and she was able to drop off food with my brother. That said, the food he hate at the tasting and the food we ate the wedding tasted very different to my brother, who is no slouch when it comes to restaurants and food. Also, we always felt like an afterthought to her. While I understand that small businesses need to cram in as much business as possible, I felt like we were the ones getting thrown around on the schedule, particularly when the food showed up two hours later than we had planned. In the end food was ready only a little late for the reception, but I didn't appreciate getting questions about food set up just as I was about to walk down the aisle. Food was served buffet style but it was not exactly cold, but certainly not warm. Additionally, in the 11th hour, she wanted to charge an extra 500 dollars for 1 extra guest when we expressly stated that we expected to be a few under the bar even with the extra guest. This might considered legitimate, perhaps, in some way I don't understand, except for the fact the second I questioned this and tried to brainstorm some cost effective solutions, she backpedaled and dropped the whole thing. Adding to the feeling of being the afterthought, neither I nor my husband ever actually met Jennifer. We had previously arranged for her to be there during the event; she was not. In the end, the food was fine but not great, and her absence as well as her limited skills with punctuality did not ruin our wedding. However, I like to have the feeling that I get what I pay for, and while I've never planned a wedding before, my mother has been an event planner for a decade, and neither she nor I felt this was money well spent.
Getting Saucy's reply
I'm very taken aback by this review. This is the first I'm hearing of Brittany's dissatisfaction. My pricing structure is based primarily on food cost and tends to be much lower than my competitors. Food cost can change over time as well, an example is how egg prices just skyrocketed. When I suggested the higher guest count category which did increase the price it was done out of concern for the amount of food, not to increase my paycheck. As a small business I normally do not offer tastings. I care very much about my client's and their events and so I accommodated Brittany and arranged a tasting at no charge. Communication with Brittany was done primarily via email. I did tell her that I needed confirmation whether her event was to be a drop off or if she needed servers because I had another client that wanted to book me on that day. The event was originally booked as a drop off only. Once confirmed, I provided two servers to work her event at no additional cost. It is always my intention to provide excellent customer service and exceed my clients expectations. My clients and their events are always top priority regardless of how many I may have booked in a day or month. I'm saddened to learn of Brittany's dissatisfaction after the event had concluded.

We hired Getting Saucy for our large conference (300+ participants). Our expectations were that catering would be done for 500 participants simultaneously in two separate locations (McKinney and Lancaster). Our experience was that Getting Saucy was not equipped for a conference of that size for all day events with several break times. The food quantity was inadequate and there was no service. Food was brought to the venue and it was up to our staff to serve and clean up afterward. The set up was very poor. On the last day of our conference, broken cookies were brought to us in a box. There were no plates or napkins to serve them on and there was no personnel to serve. Although we did not expect someone to stand and place food on plates (or napkins) a professional business would have made sure that participants would at least be able to serve themselves. When we contacted Getting Saucy they said so sorry but did not attempt to make amends. Overall, the chef was very pleasant, the food quality was basic, and the service was very bad. I would not recommend Getting Saucy for large events.
Getting Saucy's reply
I have catered large events before with 500 or more guests without problem. I was hired for drop off service to provide coffee during the morning registration and to provide snacks during a mid-morning break and mid-afternoon break. I provided more than enough plates, napkins and cups for the duration of the event, however the client went through the supplies in two days instead of 3. I was notified on day 2 by one location that they were running low on paper goods and I provided more the next day as requested. The second location did not make me aware that they needed more paper goods until after the last mid-afternoon service. At that point I was not in the area to be able to provide more. Had I known sooner I would have gladly gotten more to them. Also, the food I provided for snacks was placed out during registration so, of course it would appear as if there wasn't enough. I was not contracted at $3.00 per person/per day to provide breakfast or lunch as well as snacks. I stayed for a minimum of two hours after drop off each day sometimes longer, depending on which location I was at, to ensure everything was set up and working properly for the day before I left. That was more than what was required for drop off service and I was not compensated for my extra time. One location had issues with electricity for coffee and the other refrigeration for extra ice which was out of my control. I had several different people giving me feedback which was contradictory in nature so it was difficult for me to discern what issues (if any) needed to be resolved. In the end, I felt this was a difficult client to please regardless of my attempts to better the situation. Payment by the client was not made on time either. It has always been my philosophy to provide excellent customer service exceeding the expectations of my client and to be kind and professional. I do my best to achieve that with every job I undertake even when there are challenges.
