FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My first camera was a vintage Pentax K1000 that I won during a bid war on eBay. From that moment on, I scoured books, took classes, and searched YouTube for information on shooting and developing my photos in the darkroom. Once I felt like I understood how to photograph properly, a new understanding of what I desired for my life emerged. I changed my major to Studio Art and Art History, bought my first digital camera, signed up for a semester abroad, and researched the current and historical artists who inspired me most. Once I was overseas and immersed in a foreign culture, I realized how much I had fallen in love with photography. My camera allowed me to break a language barrier--to meet wonderful people and explore their lifestyle.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When hiring a photographer, I suggest looking at their website and any social media links they have. Not only does it help if you love their style, but ask yourself if you feel you could work well and connect with them on a personal basis.
