About
Hello! I've been teaching violin and piano for 10+ years to students of all ages. I've played violin for 41 years and piano for 43 years. I love to have students try music from different styles, and also teach basic music theory and ear training skills. I offer in person lessons in Roy, UT or online lessons, whichever you prefer. For violin, I love helping beginners learn about the fun world of music, and helping intermediate/advanced students hone their skills. I have a minor in music from Brigham Young University and have played in many different orchestras. I also teach piano for beginners/intermediate level. The way I teach, a student can be playing songs very quickly, even while working on basic skills and learning how to read music. I love opening up the world of the keyboard and how to match it to what you see on the music! I have also led children's choirs for many years as a volunteer. I love teaching the students music basics and how expressing themselves with their voice can be fun and joyful. If you would like to learn more about the violin or the piano, give me a call! I charge $20/half hour lesson, $30 for 45 minutes, and $40 per hour lesson. Your first lesson is free. I also offer a 10% multi student discount.

Susan taught 4 of my children piano. Ages ranging from 5 to 11. She used lessons that fit each child's needs and helped keep them excited about piano. I loved that she helped them prepare to play in front of others. Overall, a very good experience for our family.

I have known Susan for two years. She is a fine violinist with whom I have recently performed and who displays beautiful technique and outstanding musicianship. As a music minor, as a BYU Symphony concertmaster, and as a 4 year member of Iowa All-State orchestra she is highly prepared, kind, and compassionate. She has also played piano since childhood and has taught students on both instruments for many years. Susan has the qualifications to encourage and promote successful musicians.
