Ok. I've been taking lessons from Preston for a few months now. And I've never had a better teacher. He pays attention to you as a student. I told him the first day that I wanted to increase my speed, accuracy, technique and focus on a neoclassical style of guitar.. What did he do? Taught me those things and paid attention to my technique. Within a week I was seeing results! The best part about Preston is he knows how to optimize your practicing, making you a better guitarist faster! I often refer my friends and random people to Preston, and when I do I tell them this. "Before you go to him, think about this.. What kind of guitar player do you aspire to be? What guitarist do you idolize? Preston can and will get you there!" And how much am I paying for all this awesomeness? Let's just say that I've paid more to "specialist" guitar teachers who've taught me less!

Preston has taught me guitar lessons for about 5 months now. He is a great teacher! I had never picked up my guitar but wanted to learn and Preston made me feel comfortable about what to expect out of my guitar lessons. He caters to each individuals needs and is very passionate about teaching which was just what I needed. Thanks for being so great Preston! I lucked out having you as my teacher.

Preston is a great teacher. His teaching style fits our 11-year-old son perfectly as lessons are fun and progress at a very good pace, so students don't get bored. There are many opportunities for extra free classes that students can earn by practicing at home and keeping track of their practice time. There are other fun extra events that Preston sets up for the students. It is amazing to see how much our son has learned in 7 months that he's been taking lessons! Thank you, Preston!

I was looking for a guitar teacher for my teenage son and found SLC Guitar through Thumbtack. My son had previously attended group lessons at another guitar shop and left feeling bored and uninspired. My son's guitar playing has really taken off since attending lessons with Preston at SLC Guitar. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Having a good teacher/student relation is vital to the students success. If we think we may be a good fit we'll chat on the phone / invite you in for a free consultation so we can meet and get in depth with where the client is at, what their aspirations are, what will need to be done to get there, details about the programs etc and then go from there.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 2010 I wanted to get into teaching because I had had so many teachers and I felt I had something to offer. I began substitute teaching at a prominent guitar school here in Salt Lake City and when I saw how disorganized they were I thought I for sure could teach guitar better.
