I'm sure that Star painting is not exclusively the worst Painting Company in the Salt Lake City area. In fact you should know that they were the first company to respond to my Thumbtack request to paint our house and we're under bidding their competition. This is the primary reason why we went with them is they were the first ones to respond and they had extremely competitive rates. Throughout the painting process and the subsequent touch up sessions after, Constance (the office manager) was excellent at communicating to her crew what needed to be done and when we were going to have them over next. I'd like to state that they did come back out to our home five times to do touch-ups to try to fix some of the problems they created. The real tragedy here is most of the problems were created in the first day doing prep work where they had holes to fill and mud to sand. Because they did so poorly and their prep work we have a house full of spackle that was not sanded down flat that's been painted over and pinholes you can clearly see that just have a little layer of paint coating them but they are completely obvious and unfortunately it looks bad. Not only that but there are areas in the home that have painters tape that's just been painted over so it's trapped between the wall and the new paint areas that needed sanding and mudding that just didn't get done. Constance and the company in general are very good at communication there are some problems we've had with language barriers. This is at least what I'm attributing what happened to our bathroom window Fiasco. Originally we wanted the interior of the window painted white which they did do the first time they didn't put a second coat so you could see color from the old paint job coming through the paint. So then we asked them to paint a second coat of white in that window and we thought we were clear about this but when we came home that evening we found a dead painted that window Gray. But that was not what we asked for so we had them repaint the interior of the window to white again. And you can see from the two photos I have of that window you can see that the lines not very clear it's not a clean paint job even after all that work. Most of the paint work in the house looks okay it in fact had the prep work been done correctly I am sure you wouldn't have seen the review that I'm writing now instead it might have been a glowing review talking about the exceptional professionalism and quality craftsmanship. But that's not what I'm writing about. Five star painting is one of the most competitively priced companies on the market. And they excel at communication and the crew was punctual. And working with Constance was a joy. What I am left with is the work they've done had it speaks for itself. I hope this review has been helpful to anyone that's out there looking for paintersAug 2, 2019Verified
Five Star Painting did some interior painting in my house and I was extremely impressed with the entire process. Brandon and his entire crew were very friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable speaking with them and having them in my home. The pricing was fair, the crew was punctual and the results were spectacular! I feel like I have a new house. I definitely recommend Five Star Painting to my friends and family.Feb 13, 2014
My two-color job was turned into a three color mess of poor communication. Only one of three painters spoke English, and their supervisor didn’t know what should be done. The only one who knew anything was the guy who bid the job. Very high priced bid for a mass of confusion. The paint does look nice, for the amount done correctly.Sep 24, 2018Verified
Our experience was not great. We hired professional painters because we were in a time crunch. We were moving to a new house and this one was going to be rented out. I wish I had just taken the time to do it myself. The quality of work was sub par, and several places were spoty, over the lines, or completely missed. Twice the painter did not show up when he said he would so that he could finish in time. I ended up having to paint the bathroom my self because our renters we're moving in and we couldn't wait any longer. But at least they refunded that part of the quote. I will have to go back and touch things up myself when our renters move out.Aug 19, 2018Verified
The whole experience turned out very well from bidding through project wrap up. The guys did a great job and on time. We were under a serious time constraint and Five Star Painting delivered a great job and on time!Aug 29, 2016Verified

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Each job is different, so in order to give you the most accurate price - we need to know the full scope of the work. This means things like how much area needs to be taped off, what the actual surface area of your space that needs to be painted is (because square footage of room doesn’t equal square footage of painted area!), and the color and condition of your walls.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? We meet and I provide a free on site painting estimate. Once the customer approves our quote, a Five Star representative Salesperson or Production Manager gets in touch with the customer to schedule the work. We walk through and make sure we’re on the same page (e.g. colors, # of coats, and the daily schedule) and identify any issues ahead of time. We check our jobs daily and make ourselves available to our customers for any issues that may arise. At job completion, we walk around again with the customer to ensure that they are completely satisfied with the final product. At that time we request final payment. All unused paint will be left for the customer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work? Each five star painting pro is highly trained and skilled - we make sure the work is done professionally every time!
