Not Great. I agreed to hire him to do fashion flat sketches. But when he came in, he didn't have any experience. So I couldn't work with him. He then demanded that I pay him $12 because I'd clicked 'hired' on Thumbtack. Weird.

This company offers specific work, I give a bid, they except, and then it turns out to be something maybe in the future.
My skills are way beyond flat sketches, way beyond what was required by your people, and yet there was no work to be done, It turned out to be a job interview. Plus your people have no idea about proportions of the human body like the difference between and adult and a teenager proportionally if they are the same height. No idea! Plus they couldn't figure out if they wanted the drawing laid out like a pattern flat, or a 2-D version silhouette of a person. So it is your company that hires non-professionals and put them in management.
