I have to be one of the most uptight people in front of a camera, which for an actor, is not what one might expect! Most of my pictures turn out like Chandler from Friends! I always joke, "If you want my best side, let me turn around!". Just knowing a camera is around immediately makes me uptight and stilted.
That all changed the day I agreed to do headshots with Blake Yelavich. Before the shoot, he sent me a video showing his style and manner of working. It seemed so simple. The day of the shoot, he took the time with me to just talk; he explained every step of what we'd do and immediately put me at ease.
We took hundreds of pictures in a one block radius! He talked me through every step, giving me more and more confidence! His expression when he knew he had captured a good one allowed me to relax even more. He showed me shots as we went along, which seeing them at that moment, actually made me want to take more and more!
Then the hard part...looking at each of them, untouched. I was afraid when that email came, but again, pleasantly surprised that anyone could capture me without a fake or awkward smile. I let him pick which ones to touch up, as by this point, I had so much faith in his creative ability. He didn't let me down at this step either!
I am anxious to get back in front of the camera with Blake and at least weekly, recommend him to friends, family, and businesses!

Hands down, Blake has been the best photographer that I've worked with! He's great to talk to, makes sure you're doing okay and are comfortable, and makes taking pictures so easy.
Blake's style is incredible, and I love how he also gives his input during the photo shoot so you don't feel like you're standing there clueless on what you should do. I've seen several photographers who haven't done that, and it makes a night and day difference on one who does. It truly shows that Blake cares about his work.
I'd recommend Blake to anyone and everyone looking for a great experience in: getting incredible and professional photos, and working with a highly professional, talented, and well experienced photographer.

Blake is a pro's pro and a total pleasure to work with !! As a former actor and model, he knows EXACTLY what casting directors want to see and what works and is current versus looks that are outdated and overused.
His rates are more than reasonable for the amount of talent and experience you are hiring. We shot for three hours, both in studio and several outdoor locations and his eye for lines, colors, backdrop, exposure and composition is solid. He is extremely personable and encouraging, and the direction he provides is clear and very easy to follow.
I was getting a mix of acting headshots and more serious modelling looks -- I have minimal experience in modelling -- and Blake relaxed me and coached me through reaching down inside myself and finding the emotion or the reason for the looks we were going for.
I am blown away by the results, which I am confident will lead to more contacts and bookings. I will also be highly recommending Blake to my fellow actors/models.
