We contacted Chris Rogers in the spring of 2013 to review our circumstances for a possible bankruptcy case. I spoke to quite a few attorneys before deciding to meet with Chris. When we met in person, Chris was compassionate and non-judgmental as he walked us through the steps of a Utah bankruptcy. My husband said he was most impressed with his confidence and Chris' ongoing communication about the upcoming deadlines and documents necessary for each step. It is necessary to complete quite a bit of paperwork to provide a current financial picture when filing bankruptcy. Some of the forms were very confusing. Chris was exceptionally patient when I had occasion to call to ask for guidance. He is knowledgeable about the limits, maximums, minimums of specific categories of debt and income. When we appeared before the bankruptcy court in the summer of 2013, Chris respectfully but confidently corrected a couple of errors in the judge's understanding of our case. The bankruptcy was granted a couple of months later. The fees charged by Mr. Rogers were reasonable considering our case had tax implications in another state as well as federal taxes. Chris helped us start a new financial path and encouraged us to respect and try to improve our financial health moving forward. I tell people not to try to handle big issues like bankruptcy by themselves when they think they can't afford to hire an attorney or they have the knowledge to do the paperwork themselves. Chris made it manageable for us AND because his services are within our financial reach, we are moving forward to resolve a few additional issues which are outside of the bankruptcy. In fact, we are meeting next month. As with the bankruptcy, we can see a light at the end of the tunnel with these other issues as well, thanks to Chris.

Chris Rogers was the second attorney I contacted when I began wondering about committing bankruptcy. Ha, I put it that way, because I felt so guilty and defeated in filing. The first person I contacted didn't return my email or phone call in a timely manner, and I do get impatient about that kind of thing. If it takes longer than 17 minutes to hear back, then I am moving along. Chris replied to me each and every time before the Windsor Chime sounded the next quarter hour, whatever days there were. The next aspect of interaction I noticed was that Chris is a quiet and attentive and patient listener. While I very much appreciated this at the beginning of our time as well as at the end of our time, it was a little off-putting more than once because I am the other extreme. I was a bit dismayed at seeing his office address being "Midvale." I am a pedestrian and an urbanite, living right downtown in the heart of the SL metro district. My apartment, my job and even what I knew of the court system were all within a couple-mile radius of one another. Turns out, Chris was readily available for meetings and document signatures, and he even graciously had us ride together on the day of the Trustee hearing, picking me up from the Avenues hospital where I worked and then dropping me back off. I was so startled by what happened on the day of meeting the trustee. Chris had prepared all documents days before hand, we'd reviewed them a couple of times, he'd also advised I save receipts of spending and purchases for several weeks. We had a village of back-up and paperwork everything. But I was nervous, and still wrestling with the notions of declaring bankruptcy, still wondering if it would have to go from Chapter 7 to Chapter 13. Worried that the trustee would begin asking me a lot of questions about foolish decisions in my life. But the day of the hearing, we were sitting in the public room, Chris was dressed a bit formally, and the trustee was receiving people up front one by one in full sight and audio of all present. When it was our turn, the man asked me a question which I managed to be not to clumsy in responding to, but he also asked Chris something, or received something from Chris. Within 5 seconds it was apparent that the trustee was finished with us, and he handed BACK to Chris a document that would have represented a lot of discussion or later analysis. Chris said that as soon as the trustee handed that document back to him, he knew all was well. Here is the crux of the matter. Chris was SO thoroughly prepared and sooo professional, that the trustee seemed to conclude our case was solid, legitimate and splendidly documented. It was the quality of preparation and of presentation that moved the trustee from his first word to last, all within 5 minutes-- no lie. I think the trustee concluded, nearly immediately, that this attorney knew what he was doing and that his own time would be better used that spending minutes and questions and questions and minutes over time poring over a lot of points would issues that were well-organized by a respectful and competent lawyer. The only thing that would have improved my experience with Chris Rogers is that it would have helped me to have him "warm up" a little in communications. He's a man of few words, speaks little, and in the absense of input, I tend to interpret silence as disinterest or even dislike. I remember asking him more than once if he weren't just a little disgusted with a financial screw-up like myself. I think quiet people and talkative people easily misunderstand one another. But fact is, he accomplished by bankruptcy fabulously, and I'm glad I chose him.

Chris was wonderful on every level from beginning to end. With our case, he was very hands on and personable! Even after he has continually followed up on things needed afterwards! I would and have recommended him to my friends and family!
