We're so glad to have met Nancy. The decision to start marriage counseling wasn't easy, worrying about finding someone we could trust, or wondering if they would understand our situation. Nancy meets us mentally and emotionally where we're at; and has helped us realize how important communication is and gave us the tools to break it down in ways that we can digest and incorporate. Thank you Nancy for seeing us and helping us make our relationship strong and lively again. We still make each other crazy, but now we can have some fun doing it.

Nancy has been a blessing for me and my wife. We really had no idea what to expect from a relationship coach. Her work is based on the scientifically supported premise that most (all?) relationship problems originate from poor communication. She walked us through ways that we can improve our communication, and then holds us accountable. We have seen immediate results and are now continuing to meet with Nancy to do the hard work of progressing further. It is time and money well spent.

I worked with you several years ago and am choosing to share this feedback now, after giving myself time and distance to process the experience outside of heightened emotions. There is one takeaway I genuinely found helpful… learning to use “I” statements when communicating. That has stayed with me and has been a useful tool. That said, much of the experience felt confusing and, at times, invalidating. In situations where I described repeated betrayals in my relationship, the focus was often placed on my reactions rather than the behavior that caused harm. This left me feeling as though my responses were being scrutinized more than the underlying issues. As a woman, I have already been conditioned to consider others feelings and perspectives, often at the expense of my own. I did not struggle with seeing things from the other person’s point of view. In fact, doing that too much is what led me into several unhealthy situations in the first place. Because of that, the continued emphasis on prioritizing the other person’s perspective felt misaligned with what I actually needed, which was support in recognizing and responding to harmful behavior. I also recall being encouraged to consider my partner’s perspective when he had withheld important information (such as having a girlfriend while dating me). While understanding different perspectives can be valuable, this emphasis felt misplaced in moments where accountability and acknowledgment of harm were needed. One of the most difficult moments for me was when I disclosed a childhood sexual assault. I was told I was not a victim and was encouraged to think about what the other person may have experienced in their own childhood. That response was deeply upsetting and has stayed with me. In hindsight, I believe a more supportive and trauma-informed approach would have been appropriate in that situation. Additionally, comments about your own husband’s depression (particularly expressing frustration or dismissiveness) contributed to an overall feeling that emotional struggles were being minimized rather than compassionately held. I also want to note that I do not believe you had the appropriate credentials (which you expressed to us during our first session)to provide the level of guidance that was needed, particularly given that you were not licensed. In situations involving trauma and complex relationship dynamics, proper training and credentials are essential. I share this feedback not out of anger, but from a place of reflection. My intention is to be honest about how the experience impacted me, in case it offers something useful for your awareness moving forward.
