Masterpiece work and flexible with my schedule! I was so nervous about hiring for our tiling project: we had complex angles, a curved fireplace, and a unique look we wanted for our staircase- but Crown Services made it happen. I didn’t pay anything until they were certain the job was done right! Phillip and Israel were a pleasure to work with from start to finish, and offered their honest opinion when we needed fashion advice for the complex look we were going for. They worked around my horrendous work schedule to complete the project, and were understanding of all my concerns. Friends and family were so impressed with the new look and it added considerable value to our home when it was complete: goodbye 60’s laminate and pet-stained carpet; hello hard-wood tile, fresh baseboards, and a “cabin” feel! All for an affordable price. We had a few mid-project alterations done (we added some new things and removed others), and it threw the initial quote off a little bit- normally I'm nervous disputing quotes with my contractors (I HATE conflict!), but Phillip was so professional and obliging and gave me the benefit of the doubt when fixing my quote up. I never once felt pressured or guilted for going over the budget and project with them, and felt like I came out ahead in the end. We will definitely be re-hiring for our other needs: countertops, bathroom remodel, and fences are all on the list- I absolutely trust Phillip to find the highest quality workers for all our real-estate projects. If you're looking for tiling (done RIGHT!) then Phillip and Israel are your guys.

Daniel accepted a job that started out small and quadrupled in size as we saw what he was capable of He did what he said and when he said he would. If he couldn’t for any reason he let me know I wouldn’t hire anyone else for any other project he is capable of which is exactly why I have him installing 180 feet of fence for me. This guy and his family are one of a kind so give them a chance. They did great work.

He did a great job and was very thorough, professional, and right on time. He also did a great job and we were very happy. We thought it was a bit pricey though. He quoted us $750 to sand, stain a deck and fence. We thought it would take all day, but it only took about 4 hours for him and a helper. So, it ended up being $150 per hour which seems pricey for staining work, and the price didn’t include the stain. But we were also in a time crunch and he was willing to work in our time frame. Overall we are very happy with the job, our deck and fence looks great, it was on the expensive side.

Jay was very easy to work with! He was able to get me a quote quickly and started on my fence as soon as I made the decision to move forward. The fence was done within days and looks beautiful. I had a couple of changes that I requested to be made to the gate and he came back repeatedly until I was fully satisfied. The entire process was stress-free. His team worked around every hiccup that came up (like the metal fenceposts that had been used in the previous fence and covered by 2x4s) and he

Scott built a fence with a double wide gate around my front yard which required him to level it on a grade and add topsoil. My neighbors are happy with this improvement and tell me it makes my house look nicer. Scott also did some welding adding a double-sided keyed lock to a kennel door, very nice. He later added electrical outlets with a GIF inside the kennel. He is a great handyman for any project of any size.

Workers LLC tore down and disposed of an existing fence and replaced it with quality cedar wood. The job also entailed building a gate and staining the fence. They did an excellent job. This is the first time I've used Thumbtack and the first time I've used Workers LLC. I was extremely pleased with the streamlined quotes and feel lucky to have met Mike from Workers LLC. I live in Virginia and my property is in Utah. I coordinated everything online or on the phone with Mike. I've already hired him to do some more work for our properties. He is very trustworthy; he performed the exact work he promised for the price he quoted me. He finished in a timely manner and was very professional to work with. I recommend him to anyone looking for a professional contractor/handyman. I sent him a text about some potential mold in my house and he sent me a copy of his certificate as a certified mold remover. He and his team are definitely more than fence installers. They will be my "go to" handymen for anything I need at our properties. I rate them above OUTSTANDING! Thanks Mike/Workers LLC and Thumbtack! Stacy

Carlos was easy to work with and did a beautiful job with our fence. He is an incredibly hard worker and gave us a great price for all the grueling cleanup before the project even started. He was also willing to listen and make changes as we did along the way.

Initially Eddie (Etika) came out for a fence estimate install. With his background he was able to see some issues we would have should we install a fence on the crumbling retaining wall we had. He suggested several methods to fix and reinforce the wall. We decided to have him build a nice rock retaining wall with the fence posts in the wall for extra support. The wall looks very classy and stable. He also dug out 12+ stumps, removed eight big trees and a handful of shrubs, poured and finished a great slab of concrete and leveled the backyard for sod install. He and his team did great work! Were easy to work with and most importantly for us he provided lots of suggestions and guidance for possible future projects. I would highly recommend Etika Saafi!

Tom is a professional (he is a mechanical engineer after all) and does great work! He created a scope for the project and did all that I wanted to fix my old wooden fence. He has the right tools for the job and doesn't just piece it together and guess. You will not be left wondering if you've had a quality job done. He cleaned up the place and is great to talk with. He communicates well, let's you know where he is at and shows you what he has been doing to make sure you are happy. He was able to work before a holiday and is really flexible in working with you. With what seemed to me was going to take four days he was able to knock out the majority of it all in one. I can't recommend him enough and will use again in the future!

I had an amazing experience working with John Spicer at Glasstone Homes. I needed a fence around my property, and had pictures of what I wanted. John and his crew did a beautiful job! They are professional and hard working. I love my fence. I also had him fix the back of my garage, where a tree was pushing in the wall. He notched out the effected area of the wall and then finished it with siding. I really didn’t want to cut down the tree and now I don’t have to! Very pleased.

My entire experience was great. The salesman was informative and friendly. When the workers arrived they were polite and presentable. They made accommodations for special needs of my yard. They did things I asked and cleaned up all the old fence and debris and left my yard clean. I highly recommend this company to anyone wanting a great looking fence.

Contracted with Prevail to take care of our property in Heber in 2016. We were not able to be on site everyday and trusted that the work would get done and on time. Prevail DID NOT disappoint. We had demo, fence repair and replacement on our ranch. Using again this summer for more demo work!👍

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
