FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I typically charge $400-500 for a 4-hour event, depending on what you need, but rates are negotiable, depending on travel distance, required equipment and venue.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
YES!!! I still study music trends and production. As much as it doesn't seem like a job, I'm out at the club even when I'm off the clock, listening to new DJs and new styles. I love listening to Euro and British stations and reading music blogs. And I spend way too much time on Soundcloud.com, listening to mash-ups and remixes from other artists.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was actually a touring drummer for quite a few years, then studied music and entertainment law in college. Out of college, I got a job in finance, but my creative juices needed an outlet, so I dabbled in music production in my free time. I loved taking blank songs that artists would send me and turning them into full arrangements. Then I got thinking, why not take mainstream musicians' songs, remix them and make them better?? And that's how I got into DJing. I want to make every song THE BEST SONG!
