Introduction: Music is always about more than just music. My goal is to help people grow through music through careful and patient understanding of music to accomplish the goals that they're trying to reach. Whether it's helping them reach satisfaction of attaining a difficult musical goal, or just learning how to deal with the inevitable mistakes that happen.

Just finished our first session with Adam and very happy so far. My boys loved him! He is so good with them and they were actually engaged and QUIET for their entire session. I’m going to chalk that up to Adam’s patient and calm demeanor. I can’t wait to see where these sessions lead us! :)

Details: Younger than 6 years old • No, the student cannot read music • No formal training • What the teacher recommends • Yes, the student has a piano • 30 minutes • As soon as possible • The piano teacher travels to me

Adam Munzert taught me basic piano for about a year. He is a patient teacher and equips the student with music that suites their ability, but is still interesting. As a beginner piano player who has previous experience on other instruments, most beginner music felt very childish. Adam do a good job finding more interesting music to learn that was still within my playing abilities. He has a sense of humor while teaching and teaches the student more than just how to play notes.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing is $35 per half hour, $60 per hour.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first step is always general introduction, making sure that there is mutual ability to communicate ideas and goals effectively. Afterwards, is assessment of the students background. Often there is none at all, so it simply starting from square one. Then afterwards is a continual communication of expectations as a teacher and feedback from the student. Music is a complex subject; patience is key in reaching goals.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelors of Music in Music Composition from Christopher Newport University where I studied composition, piano, and tuba. I have played piano for approximately 14 years and have played in a variety of contexts, such as a soloist, chamber musician, and accompanist. I have played tuba for approximately 8 years where I have played as a soloist and in chamber groups, bands, and orchestras.
