Introduction: I am a native Spanish speaker from Peru with more than seven years of experience in teaching Spanish to adults. My priority is for my students to feel motivated and comfortable in learning. I have worked with adults building, training, and improving their skills, specifically by seeking to make sure they learn a broad set of vocabulary, develop correct pronunciation and verb tense usage, and become conversational as soon as possible.
My style involves use of interactive methods to review and cover material and encouraging the student to speak the language confidently. I successfully prepared government employees from different agencies. I enjoy teaching adults, helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially.

Maria Jose is a great tutor! I have been learning Spanish with her for a little over a month and I am getting much better quickly which is actually quite suprising considering I hardly spoke any previously. I highly recommend Maria Jose!

I have really enjoyed working with Maria Jose Terry Gallardo so far! We have only had two sessions so far, but in those sessions I have learned a lot already and have really appreciated her willingness to customize the lessons based on what I need to know specifically.

Maria Jose has a very patient teaching method, she makes each lesson interesting and stretches your capabilities. After each lesson Maria Jose provides back up lessons and online practice sessions which are very good.

I have only had a couple of lessons with her so far, but she has been great at helping me unearth the Spanish skills I acquired long long ago. I have studied several languages in a variety of circumstances (group instruction, individual instruction, online, self-study) and have found that, short of full immersion, a one-on-one class with a skilled teacher who makes you feel comfortable and engaged, as Maria does so well, is the best way to learn a language. I am confident that with her help I can finally achieve fluency in Spanish.
