Our wedding was on March 15, 2014. We chose Fox & Owl Photography based on the recommendation of a friend and we couldn't be happier with our decision. A few weeks prior to our ceremony we had a meeting over coffee with both Carrie and Allison, where we discussed the type and style of photography we desired. My wife and I had poured over at least two dozen other portfolios, so we already had zeroed in on a style that both of us really liked. We wanted photography that showed off our love and affection for one another without being too saccharine. We also wanted some shots that highlighted our venue which was right on the Chesapeake watershed. We also listed out the individual moments over the course of the ceremony that we wanted captured on film. During this meeting they took extensive notes, and together we created a layout of the ceremony site and came up with a strategy for how to give the photographers the best sight-lines and ease of movement during the event. We also came up with contingencies for weather. We took a huge risk having an outdoor ceremony in the middle of March. Carrie and Allison exuded confidence and assured us rain or shine (or snow!) that they'd be able to work with whatever conditions were on the ground and still capture our wedding. On the day of the ceremony this planning proved very helpful. Thankfully it was a sunny day in the 60's! Another choice we made was to have the ceremony device-free. This allowed the photographers to do their jobs without distraction or interference. It also provided a serene atmosphere for our guests during the ceremony. We wanted very bold photography, outdoors in sunlight on the waterfront--shots that utilized light and shadow. During our initial meeting I used words like "brooding" and "melodramatic" to describe what I wanted. Fox & Owl came through in a big way. They produced photography that gave that sense exactly, while still keeping it romantic. There were plenty of photos that captured our joy and laughter as well--my wife's bridal portraits were stunning and her "getting ready" photos seem to be by consensus among our friends, the best sets. Carrie and Allison were cordial and professional throughout the day. Their style appeared to be to discreetly capture moments as they happened rather than to be vocal about staging people, Still, some of the best shots they took were when they directed us and asked us to pose in a particular way. Their instincts were dead on especially as the sun was going down. The sunset shots were spectacular and their use of that lighting was ideal. They adapted well to changes. There was plenty that went wrong during the day. Key friends and my own parents were so late they missed their photography times. Knowing that having these pictures were very important, we were able to make time after the ceremony and we got some family photos. In total, Fox & Owl delivered 377 high quality digital photographs on DVD soon after the ceremony. We couldn't wait to have our pictures and they replied to our update request promptly and kept their promised delivery date, which was faster than we were expecting. We narrowed down the best ones for printing and we decided we liked 99 of them. Of those 99, to break it down, I'd say 10 were exceptional, about 50 were excellent and the remaining 40 were very good. We honestly did not expect to have that many great photographs from the day. We spent over a week arguing over what photos should go in which frames and albums. It was a very good problem to have. We would happily recommend Fox & Owl to any couple that desires artistic, high quality wedding photography.

Carrie took photos of my family and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. She is very friendly and down to earth, it was easy to talk to her and tell her what we wanted. The entire set was natural and beautiful. Anyone and everyone who has seen the photos and the beautiful slideshow she put together has been beyond impressed. I am immensely thankful to Carrie for setting us at ease and capturing photos of my family, which is difficult to do with two teen boys. Carrie is someone who can create and preserve beautiful memories, she is not only professional, but a true artist.
