John did most of our kitchen remodeling work for us. This was the first time we have done a project like this so we were sort of feeling our way. I would hire John again, though his helper, Jamie, was not as good. I think the qulity of work was generally good, but I wasn't there to watch most of it. Some smaller details looked like they could have been handled better, such as flatness/evenness of the floor, placement of electrical boxes, some of the edges where the new floor met the old floor or HVAC vents. John was always happy to change something for us, but of course it would cost more to make the change. When they initially installed the cabinets one section was about 3/4 of an inch misalligned with the existing wall. Apparently they didn't see anything wrong with that and went ahead and installed the cabinets. When I saw the result I thought we needed to fix it, which John did, but he charged us another $225 to do it. There are probably always unforeseen circumstances that arrise during construction, especially in remodeling, and sometimes John would figure out a good solution (one that we liked), but other times it would be not such a good solution and we might have wanted it done differently. So more communication at those times would have been nice. Overall we are pleased with the results. The new kitchen looks pretty good, though we're still only about 95% completed. We are still waiting for a few ordered items to arrive and John will be back to finish things off. John was good at telling us when he would be there and when he wouldn't. The project has gone on a little longer than we had hoped, about 8 weeks, but things kept on schedule pretty well and there were a few unexpected extras like replacing part of the ceiling and removing multiple old floors. It was pretty easy to work with John and he seems trustworthy. I think we are a bit overbudget, but we did add in some extra painting to the job. Knowing what I now know, I think the project would go more smoothly if we had to do it again. I think John also learned some things during this project. For example, I don't hink he had installed hardwood flooring before. I bet he would also be better at that if he had to do it again. John gets things done, but sometimes he should think ahead a few more steps and try to figure out if he's doing things the best way.
Justin was courteous and professional. Installed my attic ladder the very next day and at a very reasonable price- quality of work was great.
We were lucky; John showed up promptly, and he was a helpful professional in every respect. After a careful inspection of our existing siding, he asked us what our perceived needs were. We had ben told by two previous contractors that a leak between the attached garage and the house would require removal of all existing siding on the entire house, followed by a Tyvek wrapping. This would be followed by putting new siding, etc. on the entire house. These were both pricey, (15K) proposals, just to fix a targeted small leak. ($$$$$$$) John said that overall, his inspection revealed that our existing siding, etc. looked to be in very good shape, with the exception of that small portion of the exterior wall between the house and garage. Get this; he suggested that the most prudent and cost-effective remedy for this situation was the careful removal of the existing siding only on that wall. The wall would be then wrapping with Tyvek and the original siding would be re-installed. Any siding damaged during removal could be replaced with existing siding taken from a portion of our house that is obscured from view. Cost? less than 10% of the other two estimates ($) How refreshing it was to meet a contractor who is concerned with the actual needs of a customer, rather than making a profit off of an unsuspecting client by charging them for doing extensive, expensive, and unneeded work. If I could give him 6 stars, I would.
On time and on budget! Stefan knew his stuff, was able to identify the cause of our roof leak and give it a permanent fix. We will definitely call him again for our future needs, roofing or otherwise.
S & S Service was great. I had my decking and rails replaced on my deck. It looks like new. Mr. Pushard is great to work with. He came when he said he would and the work was completed when he said it would be. I am very pleased with S & S Service and would recommend them. I have gotten quite a few complements on the deck from friends and family.
Job: Clean out 5 gutters on two-story home. Approximately 1 hour. What went well: Robbie was responsive, informed me on his intentions, and showed up early. Job was done adequately. Future Improvements: Better clean up of gutter debris. Verify downspouts are operational with water flush. Blow off roof.
We hired Justin and his company to come out an install a fence for us. Their pricing was reasonable considering the intricate design my wife wanted. We had his company install a custom fence with vinyl posts and wood paneling. It looks absolutely wonderful. Nothing is perfect and he addressed every concern we had. We have never given a 5 star review but this individual earned everyone. Well done Justin and D&H!
I manage a theater and had two small projects that needed to be completed within a short period of time. Eric not only gave me a competitive quote, he finished both projects in three days. One was ripping up carpet that was at an entrance and replacing with tile. He replaced rotting flooring, sealed the door and worked the threshold so water could not seep through. The second project was to build a wall so we could have secure storage. He not only built a solid structure, he trimmed it out and installed hooks for our students to hang their coats. Eric is fantastic to work with, comes when he says he is going to and is professional in all he does.
I am an insulation contractor that has performed work on many of Mr. Yoder's projects for the last 7 or so years. I can attest to Aaron's uninhibited thirst for knowledge of building science and green innovations, as well as the quality of the end product, including the work that is behind the drywall. Aaron is well connected to the building community through the local builder's association and his connections with quality subcontractors. Mr. Yoder and his team have always been wonderful to work with and work for. I would highly recommend him for your next project.
