I originally hired Kevin Williams in June 2011 to remove an old shed and and all of the building materials and debris my husband left behind when he moved out. Not only were his rates reasonable but he worked so fast and did a great job that I hired him to do all of the things I wanted done to transform my house into my home. He painted a couple of rooms, put up porch rails, a privacy fence, crown molding, replaced locks, replaced the front door and screen, put up porch light and flood light, replaced light fixtures, moved thermostat, replaced my hot water heater, cleaned gutters, dug up my broken cement walkway, landscaping, and on and on. Next he will be laying tiles on my kitchen floor and putting up a french door to my living room. Kevin took ownership of the project and with his creative input and excellent workmanship, my house is now my home. I consider Kevin to be Central Virginia's undiscovered gem.
John did most of our kitchen remodeling work for us. This was the first time we have done a project like this so we were sort of feeling our way. I would hire John again, though his helper, Jamie, was not as good. I think the qulity of work was generally good, but I wasn't there to watch most of it. Some smaller details looked like they could have been handled better, such as flatness/evenness of the floor, placement of electrical boxes, some of the edges where the new floor met the old floor or HVAC vents. John was always happy to change something for us, but of course it would cost more to make the change. When they initially installed the cabinets one section was about 3/4 of an inch misalligned with the existing wall. Apparently they didn't see anything wrong with that and went ahead and installed the cabinets. When I saw the result I thought we needed to fix it, which John did, but he charged us another $225 to do it. There are probably always unforeseen circumstances that arrise during construction, especially in remodeling, and sometimes John would figure out a good solution (one that we liked), but other times it would be not such a good solution and we might have wanted it done differently. So more communication at those times would have been nice. Overall we are pleased with the results. The new kitchen looks pretty good, though we're still only about 95% completed. We are still waiting for a few ordered items to arrive and John will be back to finish things off. John was good at telling us when he would be there and when he wouldn't. The project has gone on a little longer than we had hoped, about 8 weeks, but things kept on schedule pretty well and there were a few unexpected extras like replacing part of the ceiling and removing multiple old floors. It was pretty easy to work with John and he seems trustworthy. I think we are a bit overbudget, but we did add in some extra painting to the job. Knowing what I now know, I think the project would go more smoothly if we had to do it again. I think John also learned some things during this project. For example, I don't hink he had installed hardwood flooring before. I bet he would also be better at that if he had to do it again. John gets things done, but sometimes he should think ahead a few more steps and try to figure out if he's doing things the best way.
Like it Grew There Property Maintenance worked within our budget and painted our great room and kitchen. Matt and his crew was on time each of the three days and I would use them again. Dave R. Madison, VA
Matt did a great job on our kitchen remodel. There were cabinets and bulkhead to tear down to give way to 4ft white cabinets and wood floors. This was a dramatic change for us as we live in our kitchen with our 4 dogs. Even with cabinet exchanges, he worked hard to make the changes. We highly recommend Coffey for your next job. Overall I am very happy with the work done by D&H. As background, the company is a two man team where Justin handles the business negotiations while Mike does most of the on-the-ground work. Both were pleasant to work with and the project proceeded very quickly--I was able to have a remodel of my bathroom completed in less than a week. The price was very reasonable: the job was done for approximately 2/3 of what Home Depot quoted me, while using substantially better materials. They were flexible about customizing things (e.g. I wanted my vanity raised, and they built a platform to do it for a small extra charge). They also went the extra mile to ensure customer satisfaction: when I didn't like the arrangement of some tiles that had been laid, they replaced those tiles free of charge. Justin checks in every day to make sure that the project is proceeding smoothly. My only real criticism of the experience is that Mike and Justin are not always on the same page, and this can require some legwork on the part of the customer to clear up misunderstandings. Ultimately not a big issue, though it is something that they could work on.
I hired Chaplain Renovations to do my kitchen backsplash. The whole experience from start to finish was so pleasant. Eddy, knowing that this was my first home remodeling project helped me pick out the right tiles for my kitchen, and spent time showing me only tiles that were in my price range. He was so meticulous in his work, paying attention to every detail. Overall,Eddy's tile work was absolutely fantastic! I would highly recommend using them.
Shawn tiled my kitchen and foyer after a water loss. The flooring looked amazing and Shawn ensured the job site was clean prior to leaving it. He is friendly, caring, and trustworthy. I had no problems allowing his team to work on the site while I was absent. Follow up was great, and I've since hired him for other jobs. Great work all around!

I would like to thank Mr. Carroll for a fine job on my Kitchen Remodel. My kitchen was such a disaster. Now it looks like it came out of one of those magazines. My wife is so pleased. Thanks again Mr. Carroll.
Dawn installed a new Kitchen Faucet and did a remarkable job. It took a little longer than anticipated because of a rusted bolt, however, she stuck with it, removed the old one and installed the new one. Great job. We will definitely hire her again.
