- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My passion for photography started in my high school darkroom class. I have always loved art and design and have found that my love of people in combination with my eye for capturing visually pleasing images has made my wedding and portrait business a success. I started my business in 2009, after the birth of my sweet little girl, and after second shooting weddings for another photographer. I have grown so much as an artist since then, and truly love my job. I want to capture the sweet moments between a husband and wife right after they recess down the isle. I love the fun and authentic emotions I can capture in a child, the welcoming of a new innocent baby into the world and the pure happiness that surrounds families. It is why I live. - What types of customers have you worked with?
JMK Photos specializes in wedding photography in an artistic and creative way. We consider our style to be commercial photo-journalistic, meaning we document events as they unfold with a "fly on the wall" approach, but we strive to do it in a creative and technically correct way, meaning your images could be featured in a bridal magazine! Most clients choose our "ultimate package" for their wedding day coverage, which includes a portrait session (engagement or bridal portraits), 8 hours of coverage on the wedding day by two professional photographers, a disc of high-resolution digital negatives with a print release, and album design. - What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Meet your potential photographer in person!! It is so important that you not only like the photographer's work, but you also like them personally. You will likely be spending 8 hours with that person on your wedding day, and you will probably be with the photographer the most out of all of your vendors, so make sure you are a good fit for each other! Make sure your photographer will be someone that you feel relaxed around and someone you feel like you can have fun with! Then you will get amazing authentic images that capture the true emotion of your wedding day!
