Q. What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
A. We begin with an interview with the student's family, including the student. Our goal is to completely assess the area of need and match each student with the ideal tutor -- someone who is a good fit personally and professionally. Once the tutoring begins, our tutors and families provide us with ongoing feedback to ensure a high-quality result. We don't simply assign tutors and hope for the best. We follow up regularly to make sure every student is making progress. We do not charge for this home visit.
Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A. Yes, all of our tutors are licensed by the State of Virginia and as such have to maintain their education and developments in the industry. We also carry workers compensation insurance on all tutors for your protection
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your service? If so, please share the details here.
A. Nothing complicated about our pricing, we charge by the hour or portion of an hour with a minimum of one hour at each session. We have no extras, assessments, registration fees, or testing costs. We do not have contracts with our clients but depend on the high quality to maintain our customers.
Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?
A. I started Tutor A Team after 40+ years in education at many levels and realized that the current education system is not able to give individual attention to 20-30+ students in a particular class...all students are not the same and some need special attention that even the parents cannot provide. We fill in the gaps when necessary and we know our system works!
Q. What types of customers have you worked with?
A. One-on-one in home tutoring is the only thing that we do! However, we've worked with students of all ages and abilities. K-12, college, even adults. Gifted and special education. Remediation and enrichment. We even tutored a couple of grandparents looking to learn American Sign Language so they could Skype with their deaf grandson. Our goal is to make every one of our clients happy and successful.
Q. Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A. We are proud of all the work that we do, and we have many success stories. Please read our testimonials on our website and talk to us prior to making a decision.
Q. What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
A. Be sure to have an in-home interview that includes the student prior to any tutoring. Ask how a tutor will ensure a personalized approach that meets your child's individual academic needs.
Q. What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
A. We started this company in 2010 with the purpose of helping parents with the education of their children. We insist on making it work and we have a follow up procedure that reviews what happens at every tutoring session. We pay the tutors and you don't become involved in the direct payment of the tutors; your relationship with the tutor is all about your student.
