Very informative about ducts and air cleaning. Showed before and after pictures and was able to correct issues with our air duct dryer that a previous contractor made worse. Did a great job cleaning the ENTIRE air ducts !

Though the representative from TJK was professional, shared before & after pictures of my vents, and got the job done, I implore you to do your research and ask questions, especially when it comes to the financial aspect. I reached out to TJK via Thumbtack for a quote on only dryer vent cleaning. I was told, and I quote, “Our rate is $148 flat rate. No hidden or extra charges.” Another company quoted me $129 after I reached TJK, but because they (TJK) consistently contacted and were customer service oriented, I scheduled with them. My dryer vent was cleaned out and the representative recommended my dryer guard be replaced due to it being broken. I asked how much it would be to replace it and was told they would apply a $30 discount as a new customer, and the total would be $123. I was shocked to receive an invoice for $296, because I was told “Our rate is $148 flat rate. No hidden or extra charges.” The representative provided a new invoice which came out to be $271. When I asked why it was different from the $123 they quoted me earlier, they mentioned they charged $148 for the dryer vent cleaning (which includes a $30 discount) AND an additional $123 for the dryer vent guard (in which is labeled as Pest Guard Installation on their invoice and includes a $25 discount; apparently theirs is durable and attractive pest guards that hold up to UV Rays and hold up to chewing & clawing of unwanted visitors) and labor. The miscommunication came from the representative failing to tell me it would be AN ADDITIONAL $123 for the dryer guard at the time of installation; their wording made it seem I would only pay $123 as a new client and only dryer vent cleaning. All that was needed was a dryer vent cleaning; I could have purchased the dryer guard from Home Depot myself which I saw costs between $7-$13. It would’ve been helpful if they mentioned during my Thumbtack chat there would be additional fees for labor, replace dryer guards or anything if needed. Overall, he got the job done, was knowledgeable, communicative and professional. I just feel victim of hidden fees & charges. Please ask questions and ensure clarity between both parties prior to anything.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We offer free mold inspection to determine whether mold is present. The complexity of water and mold remediation requires us to then develop an estimate, and we might suggest air sampling to confirm presence of mold spores or radon gas (fixed cost). We do offer standard pricing for air duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We will contact the customer and arrange a convenient time to meet and provide the service. We will text a photo of the technician prior to arrival if the customer provides a phone number. Once we meet the customer, we will evaluate the situation and explain our process to resolve the problem. We will follow up with the customer to ensure the service was satisfactory.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our lead technicians are IICRC certified for Water Remediation, MICRO Certified for mold remediation, and NADCA certified for air duct cleaning. We are also NRSB certified to be an accredited Radon Lab (ARL1715), Radon Measurement Specialists (17SS068), and Radon Mitigation Specialists (17G011).
