FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Love Above Water LLC was born out of both experience and passion. I started in the restoration and mitigation industry working hands-on—helping homeowners recover from leaks, floods, fires, and mold. Over time, I realized two things: first, that too many families were left stressed and overwhelmed because they didn’t understand the process; and second, that there was a real need for a company that could combine technical expertise with compassion and clear communication. I took the skills I had built in water mitigation, crawlspace inspections, and mold remediation, and decided to create a company that not only fixes problems but also educates and empowers homeowners to prevent them in the future. That’s why our motto is about more than just cleanup—we focus on “mitigating your mind and restoring your faith.” Starting small with local projects in Hampton, VA, and the surrounding 757 area, we’ve grown into a trusted name by putting care and quality at the center of everything we do.
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
One project that really stood out to us was a crawl space restoration where the homeowner had been battling ongoing water intrusion and microbial growth. What made it special wasn’t just the technical work—removing damaged material, treating the structure, and installing a proper vapor barrier—it was the transformation in the homeowner’s peace of mind. The project took about three full days from start to finish. Day one was all about inspection and demolition, day two was treatment and drying, and by day three, we were able to seal the space and hand it back to the client in much better condition than we found it. What made me fond of this job was seeing the relief on the homeowner’s face when they realized they didn’t have to worry about odors, health concerns, or water creeping back in. It reminded us why we do what we do—not just restoring homes, but restoring peace of mind
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
The biggest advice I’d give is this: don’t just hire the first company that shows up—hire the one that shows they actually care. In water, fire, and mold restoration, speed matters, but so does trust. Look for a provider that explains what they’re doing in plain language, gives you a clear breakdown of costs, and treats your home with the same respect they’d treat their own. Also, check that they’re properly trained and insured, because cutting corners in this industry can cause more damage down the line. And finally, pay attention to how they make you feel—if a company doesn’t communicate well from the start, that’s usually how the rest of the job will go. At Love Above Water LLC, we pride ourselves on transparency, compassion, and workmanship. We believe you should feel informed, comfortable, and confident throughout the entire process—not just when the bill comes.
