20 years of experience cooking delicious authentic Indian cuisine. 14+ years of experience teaching cooking classes professionally at Fairfax County Public Schools (Adult Education Department) as well as privately in-home.
I love to teach easy, delicious food in a fun hands on method. The recipes include vegan recipes and are cooked using fresh ingredients . The rates are reasonable and I buy all the grocery. The food you cook is taken home by you to enjoy with your family/friends. I am available to provide support after the class is over. The class includes salad, curries, rice dishes and desserts.

Manjiri is an exceptional teacher! My cooking skills are at the "beginner" level. I first cooked a four course Indian meal with Manjiri in her kitchen and then was able to cook the same meal on my own because of her excellent instruction. I have since taken additional lessons from her because I found the experience very rewarding.

Manjiri was amazing! I wanted to do something new and fun for my guy friend and it was his birthday. I reached out to a few different vegan chiefs and they were either only doing classes on the weekends or the classes were full. I insisted that we do this ON HIS BIRTHDAY, which was on a Wednesday. Manjiri didn’t tell me no. She was all for it! Though i live 55mins away it was very much worth it. I loved the fact that it was one on one with her. No other couples, no distractions! She had everything set up. All we had to bring was ourselves and containers. She explained everything before we started to prepare after that It was all hands on. She even had the recipes typed up for us! It was fun and new! The food was DELICIOUS!!!! Manjiri is very professional but she laughed with us and made us feel comfortable. He loved his surprise private cooking lesson. Thank you so much Manjiri. We appreciate everything

My two young-adult daughters and I attended a cooking session with Manjiri in her very clean home. We are huge fans of Indian cuisine, and were thrilled to find somebody local, who could teach us how to prepare some of the dishes. Manjiri spent about 2.5 hours teaching us how to make five dishes, including the recipes, how to choose and where to purchase the ingredients, and how to cook the dishes. She then allowed us some private time to enjoy our freshly cooked meal. We got to take home so many leftovers to enjoy later! We highly recommend!

Chef Manjiri gave us a wonderful private class! I gave this class to my husband for his birthday. He says it's the best gift he's ever gotten. We had so much fun, learned so much, and can't wait to try all the recipes at home. We HIGHLY recommend Chef Manjiri's cooking classes!

I had been looking for an authentic Indian cooking class for a while and the only thing I could find were classes at a stuffy cooking school, possibly not even taught by a chef native to the country. Out of sheer luck, I came across Thumback and Manjiri's class.
I messaged immediately and she was in touch that same day with information about the class and her availability. I ended up calling her to make arrangements and it was like talking to an old friend.
When I showed up, Manjiri had everything set up - fresh ingredients, cooking tools, an apron and the printed recipes. After some get to know you, she went through each recipe step-by-step so that I would be comfortable once the hands-on portion started.
The recipes were approachable, not overwhelming, and SO delicious. I left the class feeling confident that I could make a version of the dishes without feeling intimidated. Honestly, as excited as I was, my husband may have been even more so after tasting the dishes that I brought home.
