FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I high school I spent many hours reading books on the fundamentals of photography, working cameras and editing techniques(photoshop). I eventually was able to enter directly into my high school's advanced photography class where I did a lot of practical application, learned about many new concepts, and practice using photoshop on a regular basis. After high school, I continued studying and practicing on my own. I shadowed a couple photographers and had a mentor for some time a couple years ago. Now I would say I am pretty well versed in using in my adobe work flow(Adobe Bridge, Lightroom and Photoshop) and many different photographing styles/genres.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My interest in photography started with nature photography about 9 years ago and I took photos with my phone camera(didn't have a smartphone yet). I got my first DSLR my the summer before I started high school and practiced and studied a lot on my own. Eventually took an advanced photography class in high school where I learned the foundation of my photoshop skills. And years later, I tried my hand at portrait photography after buying a portrait lens. And from that point, worked harder to really make something out of photography.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
The more you know what you are looking for and how to convey what you are looking for, that will save everyone time and very likely save you money. Try to have as clear of an idea as possible of what you are looking before reaching out. It's fine if you can't work out all the details, but the clearer you can be just helps the photographer be able to better help you.
