FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Standard piano tuning in Richmond area is a flat rate: $180 One or two quick fixes included. Pianos that haven't been serviced within the past year or so sometimes have drifted low in pitch and some extra tuning work is needed for stability. This is fairly common and is usually called "pitch raise" by most tuners. If necessary there is a $60 fee for this.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certificate of completion of 2 year Piano Technology program at North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. (NBSS.EDU) Registered Piano Technician (RPT) of Piano Technician's Guild. The field of piano tuning and technical work does not have any official licensing system. RPT status in the PTG is the closest thing to it. An RPT has passed rigorous technical exams on full piano fine-tuning as well as a wide variety of mechanical adjustments (regulation) and various repairs.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked on private customers' in-home pianos as well as churches, schools, performance venues and piano dealers.
