I talked to several companies in regards to installing new floors in my home. I'm pleased with the quality of work by Alex. He did a great job and was more reasonable than other companies. He left my house very clean and beautiful. I would highly recommend him.

I had a small bathroom tile job done. The tile under the toilet already cracked, and upon having a different contractor come in and look at it I was told all of the tile laid would have to be removed as it was incorrectly installed (grout had not been sufficiently applied underneath the tiles) Additionally the under floor was attached incorrectly. It had been glued down. Oh, and the floor wasn’t even approaching level.

Details: Bathroom • Floor • 51 - 100 sq ft • Concrete • Ceramic • Yes, I already have the tiles

I’m sorry to hear that. I wish you would have let me know so I could have explained it and I will always be happy to come out and fix any problems for free. I’ve never had any issues with tiles cracking because of the installation but installing the toilet incorrectly can cause this issue. As far as the approaching level mentioned, different floors have different thicknesses so when one floor butts up against another floor a transition is used. The transition’s purpose is to cover the space between the two as well as transition one floor to the next if they aren’t perfectly level. The grout has nothing to do with the tiles attaching to the floor and grout should never be under the tiles. The grout fills in the spaces in between the tiles. Also, the “glue” is not glue, it is unmodified thinset which does adhere the Schluter Ditra (the orange underlayment) to the floor. The Schluter Ditra is an uncoupling membrane and is designed to absorb any movement that the floor might have due to settling or seasons changing and will not crack the tile if this does occur. It also waterproofs the floor which helps keep your home free of mildew and indoor humidity.
