Linda June 16, 2015 Daniel cleaned our gutters and scrubbed the outside of the gutters. I feel so fortunate to have found such an honest, prompt, and professional person who has the ability to do almost everything. First of all, he told us that the gutters were basically clean inside, and all he would need to do is clean the outside. He even started washing our car because of the chalky residue that came off of the gutters as they were rinsed with the pressure washer. Before he left our house, our neighbors hired him to clean their gutters, and my son is having him begin landscaping and window glazing. He is also coming back to paint parts of our house that have paint that is chipping. I am so excited to know that there is someone who will work hard to please his clients and someone is trustworthy. I wish we had found him long ago.

I highly recommend TD&D Construction for renovation projects! Roger did an excellent job installing new doors in my home. The project was challenging because the doors were antique with odd sizes. Mr. Emerson recognized the importance of the project to me and drew on his extensive background and interest in vintage home design to create a new door frames for the installation. His craftsmanship is top-notch! In addition to the traditional interior door installation, I asked Roger to construct a sliding door from one of the additional 5-panel doors. He researched the project, modified existing hardware, and installed the door. I love it! Finally, Mr. Emerson is very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He was prompt to appointments and delivered the product in a timely manner. I plan to use his company for my future home renovation projects.

The Company had to redo a whole house: removing carpet, painting several rooms, installing laminate flooring, replacing bathroom fixtures and more. They were fast and did an amazing job. I would definitely hire them again for any jobs.

We had a bathroom shower renovated as well as two new windows and a backsplash done in the kitchen. Kenneth and John were respectful and efficient. The tilework was done well and things were done on time. Kenneth is knowledgeable and helpful and made suggestions that saved time, effort and money. may add photos later

We needed someone to change out a light fixture in a bathroom, install a new light in another bathroom and put a light on our deck. Brian was on time, did a great job, worked with me in making a change to the light install and cleaned up before he left the job. He even made a suggestion on the light to put on the deck and it was exactly what we wanted. He was very polite and communicated with us promptly when there was a change in his arrival time. We will certainly call Brian again.

Adam Hale did a kitchen remodel for us. Work included removing cabinets, appliances and laminate flooring from the old kitchen and installing new cabinets (supplied by Woodmark Cabinets via Home Depot), appliances and new tile flooring and backsplash. His work was very good and he took great care to minimize dust and debris in the rest of the house. (My wife was VERY impressed and pleased with that!) He communicated well about the schedule and made it easy for us to plan accordingly. He is obviously very experienced and when confronted with the inevitable curve balls that come up on any project, he knew exactly what to do. We discovered our floor was sagging by almost 2” in one corner, and he handled it efficiently without any impact to the overall construction schedule. I can recommend his work without reservation. As a matter of fact, he is on the short list of contractors when we get ready to remodel our master bath!

Reasonable Rates. I had 23 new windows installed. Excellent workmanship. Kept everything clean and tidy. Insulated the windows, wrapped the window facing in vinyl wrap. This was 5 years ago. No problem with any of the windows. Gave my house a great facelift. Would Hire Again. Mr Blankenship also put a new metal roof on my parents home. They don't have email, but I can say their house looks wonderful. He matched the shutters, painted the porch to coordinate all colors. He is very clean, neat and orderly. Highly recommend. Top Notch.

I had 25 replacement windows installed by Mr. Blankenship. Superior work. Work area always cleaned at the end of the day. He insulated all new windows as my home was 100 years all. Wrapped windows in vinyl. He also, insulated my attic. Where cold air used to blow threw, everything is warm, tight and insulated. Mr Blankenship is very professional, trustworthy, courteous and open to any suggestions you may have. I hope to have him work for me again during the spring. Excellent Job.

I've known Burton for many years and this was the first project that I've hired him for, a bathroom remodel. I had a one bath house and he was able to make it into a bath and half resort. He also pointed out some work that needed to be done to insure the overall safety of the house such as adding and install new floor joists were there were none, gutting the existing plumbing and replacing due to advanced age, and also some questionable electric runs which were taken care of. Burton installed the travertine tile in both bathrooms and even did the shower tile to the ceiling. He was able to install the fixtures I had for the project with ease, such as the vanity and toilets. Burton was easy to work with on this project and took the questions and suggestions easily and gave great answers to the questions. This was the first project I've ever done for my house and Burton will be getting the next projects that will coming down the line. You will enjoy having Burton as your contractor.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

        • Trim repair:
          • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
          • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
        • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
        • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
          • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
          • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
            • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
