How much does it cost to hire a bartender for a private party?

Hiring a bartender for a private party typically costs between $270 and $390 in total. On an hourly basis, expect to pay at least $40 to $60 per hour, as well as a flat fee. How much you’ll pay, however, depends on the time of year or day, the size of the party and other factors. Get in touch with a few bartenders near you and request a free estimate — it’s the only way to get an accurate idea of how much private bartending services will cost you.

Do bartenders need to be licensed?

Certain counties, cities and states may require licensing. Check your local government’s regulations before starting your search.

In many cases, you might want to choose a bartender who has a license and/or certification. If you’re considering hiring a bartender for an upcoming event or a special occasional, check their online profiles to find out what credentials they have. If you can’t find the information online, don’t hesitate to ask them directly when requesting to receive free estimates.

How do I find a good bartender?

Put some time on your calendar to research and compare top-rated bartenders near you online. Start by looking at their ratings and services. For example, some bartending services will provide a waitstaff, glassware, ice, coolers, food and more.

Next, look at their photos of past events and read the customer reviews. Find feedback on the bartenders’ services. Did they offer fair pricing? Did they show up on time to set up? Did they bring all of the appropriate drinks, cups, supplies and decorations? Did they interact politely with the party guests and provide a pleasant overall experience? And did they do the agreed-upon cleanup afterward?

Narrow down your top choices, and start contacting the bartenders. Ask for cost estimates for your event, and tell them how many people will be attending, what type of event it is and what services you require. You should also ask them questions about their experience.

Bartenders may need a license in your state, county or city to work at a private party. Make sure they’re properly certified before you hire anyone.

How much should you tip wedding bartenders?

Sometimes, a gratuity is included in your final bill. If not, consider tipping your wedding bartenders between 10% and 15%. However, this is not a set-in-stone rule. You can always tip more, perhaps 20%-25%, for great service.

What do bartenders cost for a wedding?

It costs roughly between $270 and $390 to hire a bartender. However, if you need a wedding bartender, you should request cost estimates from bartenders near you. Depending on the drinks you plan to serve, the number of guests and other factors, your total cost will vary.

I hired a bartender and an event staff/ dealer. Both showed up before the scheduled time to set up and see what I needed. They were very polite and professional, both really nice young me. The dealer knew all about the game and was able to lead the guests. He entertained and made them feel as though they were in Vegas, which was the theme. HOWEVER, the main reason I booked this was for a BARTENDER to be able to mix drinks. Instead, I got a really nice guy, who we ended up TEACHING how to make drinks. He knew nothing out side of a drink with alcohol and soda or juice. If you asked for a Mojito, Long Island, dirty martini, Etc.... NOTHING. I had a fully stocked bar, with a large variety of all alcohol. We wasted a lot teaching him. He literally had to bring nothing but knowledge and ability to make a drink!! He finally told me that it was booked last minute, so the real bartenders were at other events. He said he was a class B. However, none of that was relayed to me when I booked! I would never hire this company for bartender service again, price says $30 an hour on thumbtack however, they charge additional $50 for booking, 18% gratuity, and setup and breakdown fee, 4 hours was almost $400 before I disputed charges, which only took it down a little. MISLEADING ADVERTISEMENT, however both guys were nice, so we tipped them $100 a piece to show it wasn’t about the $.

This wasn’t the greatest experience unfortunately. The bartenders were nice women. However..The party started at 8:30 but the first bartender came at 8:26 the second one came 10 minutes after the first. It took them a little while to get set up (naturally) but we expected the bartender from 8:30-11:30 that’s what we paid for. But we got started at around 9:15pm. We had to keep asking for more alcohol because the drinks didn’t have enough. We paid for ice add on but they barely brought any ice we had to go and get ice for them defeating the purpose of paying for ice. They had a small bag of ice! I was told shot glasses would be provided but there were no shot glasses. We had to get plastic cups for our shots. The bartender was very pushy about tips yet we were upstairs mixing our own drinks. We still tipped a bit anyway but some people didn’t because of how pushy she was being about it. I will say this, my grandmother who does not drink , drank their mixes and loved it. She gives it 5 stars. That’s how we knew there was little to no alcohol in the drinks.. if she’s enjoying herself at the bar and hates alcohol. We have nothing but bottles left which we paid for so I’m not sure why they were being so stingy with our liquor. They started packing up at 11:09 pm and was out the door by 11:30 on the dot. Which is insane because they came late and started late but left on time. Overall poor experience. Everyone at the party complained except grandma. This was just overall bad. I’m leaving pics of all the alcohol we have left. This isn’t even half.
