FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge a minimum of $25 for the first hour. This covers travel expenses and materials I may have to replenish. After that, I charge $11 for every subsequent hour but this rate is flexible based on finances and location.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
nothing formal but I think continued awareness is important. To that end, I am constantly following other face and body painters on facebook, blogs, reading art magazines and watching shows like "Skin Wars" and "Faceoff" for ideas, as well as experimenting on myself and willing participants.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I fell into it by accident. I used to teach art classes for the City of Charlottesville and they were doing an after school activity for middle school aged kids one night. My supervisor asked me if, since I draw and paint, if I thought I could paint on faces instead of paper. I needed the money so I agreed and it's been no going back since!
