I hired Max to do move-out carpet cleaning for my bedroom. Note - I had 2 cats and my new tenant was allergic, so the cleaning had to be super meticulous to get all the cat fur out in addition to cleaning and stain removal. Max was fast at responding to emails and scheduling. Cleaning was to take place on my actual move out day, so I was running like a chicken with no head. But after I showed Max and his crew member what needed to be cleaned, I was able to leave them all by themselves and get back to moving all my stuff to the new place. Max called me when they were done. They were very quick and efficient. Carpet was excellently cleaned, no cat hair, and removable stains were all gone! And the new tenant test passed - I have not heard a word from my new cat-allergic tenant! I never write reviews, but I must say that with a multitude of cleaning services companies out there with 50-50 performance ratings, Max was wonderful to work with - fast scheduling, prompt and on-time arrival, and excellent cleaning quality! I highly recommend Max, they are simply outstanding!

Matt pulled out the carpet in our basement and installed a wood grain tile. He did a great job with the installation and also communicating about the time frame for completing the job. He made see that the grout lines were as narrow as possible to achieve the full wood like unlike some contractors who take the lazy approach. We plan on hiring him again when we upgrade the tile in our bathroom.

We have used several carpet cleaning services before but Allan w Seemore Cleaning was By FAR THE BEST and most affordable. He was very fairly priced, easy to schedule with, arrived on time & alerted me once he was finished. We are preparing to sell our home & were on the verge of spending $3k replacing the carpet bc was so warn out & bad (3 dogs & 2 kids). We actually also had hime clean our tile/grout in the basement, too. I couldnt believe how nice & refreshed they looked when I got home today. Very, very, very impressed. I will be recommending him to everyone!!! Thank you Allan!

Wow, Marcos and his team did a terrific job painting my townhome. He came over with 2 days of me contacting him to do an estimate, listened to me, explained the different finishes of paint and quoted me a fair amount. He painted he next week and did my whole home in a day! Great job on clean up as well. Really nice guy, very professional and I will be using him again as well as recommending his services to any and everyone I know. Thank you Marcos 😊

Mayno and crew did a fabulous job with the carpet cleaning, and kept within the one-hour timeframe that was initially quoted. Had I not confirmed the appointment, though, via text, I would not have had proof of the appointment when he called me 2 hours before the scheduled appointment trying to change the appointment to the following day. I would hire this company again; however, not to do the job to support moving out of the home. It was stressful enough without having to deal with somebody trying to change the appointment date at the last minute, the day before we were scheduled to go to settlement on a home sale.

John and his team were quick and professional. They stretched two areas of carpet and cleaned three levels including stairs in about 4.5 hours. The quality was impressive and we will be happy to use them for any future carpet needs.

RK Carpet Services did a great job on the carpets and area rugs in our home! One of our large area rugs had stubborn old baby formula stains (it had been in our nursery) on it and Rigo was able to remove them with one cleaning (and without damage to the rug)! I was so happy to have fresh, clean carpets without any chemical smells. The price was very affordable too. Will definitely continue to use their services and recommend to others!

Travis was very knowledgeable and helpful on assisting me with the correct products and methods to use. There was a pet odor which my wife & I was not sure how to remove. We called several carpet cleaners in our area of Hagerstown, MD and moost of them recommended some special treatment which addeed to their quoted price. Travis found ways to save us time & money and he could not have been any easier to deal with. I highly recommend Travis to anyone who needs their carpets cleaned.

About

Carpet Doctors employs hot water extraction, also known as steam cleaning. This method consists of a hot water cleaning solution, under high pressure, being sprayed into your carpet and then quickly extracted back out of the carpet with a high power vacuum system. This breaks up the dirt, bacteria, dust mites feces, pollens and pollutants, allowing them to be extracted from your carpet using high suction. Not only does this method cleans your carpet better, but it also kills most germs and bacteria due to the use of high temp water. As a matter of fact, Shaw Industries, the world’s largest carpet manufacturer, recommends hot water extraction as the primary method of cleaning carpets in order to maintain warranty coverage.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should carpets be steam cleaned?

Dirty carpets can be unhealthy for the people living in the home, particularly those who have allergies, so it’s important to have them cleaned regularly; simply vacuuming once or twice a week isn’t enough. Carpet cleaning should be done by a professional carpet cleaning service at least once a year to remove grime and help extend the life of your carpet. Most carpet manufacturers recommend professional steam cleaning, which penetrates deep into the carpet fibers and lifts out both dirt and the pollutants that get tracked inside. Steam cleaning also removes most of the moisture, so carpets dry quickly enough for homeowners to resume using them the same day. Between professional carpet cleanings, your carpet may need an emergency spot cleaning. Pet accidents, food or drink spills, and more can often be effectively cleaned with some water and a drop of white vinegar, although many cleaners will also make house calls for smaller spills and hard-to-clean spots like wine or grease stains.

How do you find a good carpet cleaning company?

Regular professional carpet cleaning can both extend the life of your carpet and remove harmful pollutants from your home. Finding a good carpet cleaning company is an important aspect of home maintenance. When choosing a carpet cleaner, consider these top three questions:

  • What method of carpet cleaning do you prefer? Steam cleaning is an increasingly popular method because it’s thorough and safe, and dries quickly enough for you to return to your home the same day the carpets are cleaned.
  • Have you checked the company’s references? Most cities are home to several carpet cleaning companies, so it’s a good idea to check their reviews and references. Look for references from people in your neighborhood with homes similar to yours.
  • What’s included in the base price? What other services does the carpet cleaning company offer? Some companies will move furniture for you, while others charge a fee for it. Some include stairs in the cost of the home’s cleaning, while others charge per step.

What does carpet cleaning cost?

National average carpet cleaning prices range between $100 and $130. Carpet cleaning prices depend on how many square feet of carpet you want cleaned, how many rooms in one house or building will be cleaned, how stained your carpet is, how much the carpet cleaning company charges, your ZIP code, and the type of carpet you have. Cost per square foot can range from 20 cents to $1 or more, based on the above variables. Synthetic carpets are typically the least expensive to clean; natural fibers like wool cost more, as they require more care and attention, as well as more drying time. Excessive stains, challenging locations such as stairs, and accessibility also factor into your carpet cleaning price. Companies may charge a minimum service fee for cleaning a small carpet to cover their business expenses (paying employees, transporting the special equipment to your home). If your pet has repeatedly saturated the carpet with urine or if the fibers are extremely matted down, it may make more sense to completely replace your carpet than to continue to have it cleaned.

How much does it cost to clean a carpet?

Carpet cleaning costs vary depending on the type of cleaning, such as steam cleaning, and whether there are any stains that require special treatment. The main cost factors are the square footage of the carpet and the material it’s made from. The national average carpet cleaning price ranges from $100 to $130 for a typical suburban home, but steam cleaning prices start at an average of $120. In general, professional carpet cleaning ranges from an average of 20 cents to 50 cents per square foot, depending on where you live. Many companies have a minimum fee or room requirement — such as two rooms for an average of $40 each — and will charge more to clean carpeted stairs or a second floor. Finally, the carpet fiber type, density and pile will also affect the cost of cleaning; man-made fibers are stain-resistant and easier to clean, while wool carpeting is sensitive to water and requires more care.

How much does steam cleaning a carpet cost?

Several factors determine the cost of professional carpet cleaning, from the number of rooms in the home to additional carpeted areas to the products used to lift stains. The national average cost to steam clean a carpet ranges from $100 to $130. Most professional carpet cleaning companies’ rates are based on the number of rooms they clean, starting at an average base rate of $30 per room or $55 for two standard rooms and a hallway. Larger rooms may be charged as two rooms or incur a square footage fee. Carpet cleaners often charge by the step to clean a stairway as well as additional fees for closets and hallways; for example, some charge an average of $5 per step. Expect extra fees, starting at an average of $15 per stain, for lifting difficult food, pet or oil stains from carpets. Some carpet cleaning companies offer package deals to also clean furniture and throw rugs while in the home; a chair usually costs an average of $70 to be steam cleaned, and a couch costs an average of $100.
