Introduction: Michael Wheatley has been teaching violin and piano lessons for over 25 years. He is an alumnus of music programs at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Peter the Great Music Academy (St. Petersburg, Russia), and holds a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. Dr. Wheatley teaches private lessons on piano and violin in your home or remotely online. Additionally, Michael offers lessons in orchestral conducting as well as private coaching dedicated to understanding the competition and audition process. Michael brings humor and great professionalism to his students’ lessons following a lively "work hard, play hard" ethic. While his focus is on teaching piano and violin lessons specifically, he takes a more holistic approach to music than is commonly found in many studios. Of course, all study begins with an emphasis on healthy posture and physical technique, allowing for the possibility of a lifetime of enjoyment in the performance of music of all styles. However, you will find that he is also very focused on music as a communicative art. Music is meant to express and evoke emotions in both the performer and the listener.
